Hunting  Quads

Great Trail 730 adopted by the Delta Thunder Mountain Wheelers in remote area.  Trying to leave more caches as requested by those who have found the few in the area but lost ability to do as many planned because of huge storm while riding.  Rain, hail, thunder and lightning everywhere & wet clear to the bone even through full rainsuits.  Could only hide three.  Most of the time, it would be a great fun ride.

Metal tin full of swag!  Trail 730 reachable from Vega Lake south on main Trail 127 or northeast from Cedaredge about 12 miles on main Trail 127 from the corral parking area at end of Surface Creek Rd/Ute Trail at boundary of Grand Mesa National Forest. Could also be reached from Cedaredge side by traveling northeast on Trail 127 about 2.5 miles and turning right on Trail 719, climbing south side of Green Mountain -turning right on Trail 128.1B -left on Trail 754-then left on Trail 730.  Be sure to have maps and gps's. ATV'ing on 50" or narrower is required on tough Trail 730.

Setting up a hunting camp in the area and found it when we through the gate.
Thanks for the hide.

Good ride in, but no luck finding this one. It's been a while, not sure if it is still there. It was the daughter's turn to drive so she was hustling me along.

Went on one last late-season ride up Leroux Creek today with my aunts and a good friend. It was a GIRLS ONLY ride and I just had to stop and grab a few caches along the way. We made it to the gate and all commenced hunting! I was the only cacher in the group (although one aunt is the wife of polarisrider42) and didn't even make the find. The OTHER aunt spotted it after a short hunt! How did we miss that?!?! Not even cammo'd at all! Anyway, we squeezed through the 50" gate and continued on our 37 mile ride! TFTC, it was a beautiful fall day and great to be in the mountains one last time before the weather turns!

Sweets for a Sweet! Took an Oreo, left a doughnut - chocolate covered at that! Had been hoping to make FTF on this but missed by 2 days. Certainly don't mind playing second to webencb though!

After spending nearly 2 hrs 4 wheeling East across Green Mnt Trail, we grabbed FTF on Silverheels "Bailey Bond" then went searching for "Close isn’t goodenough" & " Columbine is close enough" and between them spent 3 hours (mostly on just GETTING TO Columbine GZ - see logs) and ended up being all but certain they are MIA. We were not totally surprised as those caches had not been logged in over 3 years BUT we have found several other caches up here on Grand Mesa that had not been found in almost as long - Lost my Cache & Indian Point Trail - being among them. We WERE Very disappointed not to find them as we have made it a goal to log EVERY cache on the Western half of Grand Mesa (we have done that excepting one) and as many of those on the Central and South Eastern portion that we have time for before snows hit, including Leon Peak!

For the day we set 4 caches, found 2, 1 DNF, 2 MIA, 4 wheeled 51 miles on Green Mnt Trail > East Leon trail hitting the North end at dusk and going back south to the Surface Creek Coral on the 4x4 road TOTALLY IN THE DARK arriving there at 10:25 p.m.! CRAZY US! but we had a blast! mud from head to toe, tired beyond belief, ached from top to bottom and first time ever for the Ms. on a 4wheeler, 2nd time only for me! Saw some of the finest back-country that God and nature have to provided and probably missed a ton more in the dark.

The two MIA's set us way back but when you are this far out you can't skip a cache, even if you know heading in that it is probably missing! SOMEone has to look and declare it! That someone is US. In all probability (at least in the case of "Close is not goodenough" as it is easily accessible) it has been DNFed multiple times but people do not want to log it as such, so do nothing - leaving both the CO and the next hunter in the dark. LOG YOUR DNF! Nuff said about our personal crusade!

Woo hoo FTF road 15.5 miles from Vega for this one. Have been here only on snow machines. Beautiful country thanks for the rough muddy ride. SL TFTC
