The location of this cache is on the Continental Divide west of Loveland Pass. It affords an excellent view of one of my favorite mountains, Sniktau; its height above sea level is 3,763 meters.
This cache requires high altitude hiking--and although the trail is not difficult, it is uphill, so if you are not used to the altitude go slowly and enjoy the scenery and the vegetation when it is available. Know the signs of altitude sickness and be aware of how you are feeling. Wear hiking boots (and hiking poles are useful). The weather can be harsh--even in summer--today was lovely but I still wore a pair of light gloves, a sweatshirt and an anorak on the trail this morning. And drink plenty of water--it is dry up here. But mostly--enjoy--this is an excellent place to be.
Because the point of this cache is to bring cachers to a lovely spot and to take a hike--if there is too much snow to find the container or if it has dropped into the rocks too far to find, or any other disaster that can occur to a small cache in the mountains--just post a photo of your GPS at the cache site and if you wish, yourself, and you will have earned your smiley.
