Trinidad is rich in historical events, there is a memorial in this courtyard south of your location to commemorate all the lives lost to mine disasters. Many of us that live here have had family members effected by the mining industry, please pay your respects as you enjoy the memorial. This is a wonderful place to take a short walk around and see all the beautiful architecture of downtown Trinidad.

In the spot you are standing, a great story took place. As the story goes Bill Schneider was wounded by another member of Billy The Kids Gang during a confrontation over Dick Wooten's Toll Gate. Schneider was left in an adobe hut to die while Billy The Kid and the rest of the Gang searched out help, the four local doctors refused to help the gang because they were outlaws. They returned to Bill to share the news with him and told him the would be back to scalp the doctors for not helping him. Soon after they rode off Sister Blandina got word of this wounded man and rushed to help him, she brought him food and cared for him for many days. In appriciation for her help Schneider confided in the nun that Billy and the Gang would be returning to kill the doctors, the next day she arrived to feed and care for Bill when the Gang showed up. Bill introduced the nun as his "Saving Angel" Billy the kid was so greatful that he said he would honor any request she had, upon shaking his hand she made her one request of "there's only one wish I ask of you, spare our doctors lives." Billy the kid being a man of his word did just that and they rode out of town shortly after, sometime later Billy and the Gang attempted to rob a stagecoach, however once he saw that Sister Blandina was onboard he tipped his hat, smiled and let the coach pass without incident. The adobe building where this all took place was later flattened to build the courtyard.

Sister Blandina was responsable for starting the first successful public school wich was later deemed Colorado School District 1, prior to this time there were many schools started, but none made it more than a few weeks. The Sisters of Charity from Cincinnati took it upon themselves to ensure the children of the area recieved a good education.

The cache is a micro, you will not have to cross any fences, this area has high foot traffic so stealth will be required. This cache is hiding in plain sight. b.y.o.p.

Passing through from SOAZ to NOCO, staying at a local RV Park. Found the cache quickly but like others could not get the rusted parts open. Left a temp log. Bike caching. TFTC

Quick find. Couldn’t open

Found it 10/01/2018 By Czechsun
This was day one of a six day road trip from Austin, Texas to San Francisco, California. Some of the goals are to find Webcam caches, log caches in new states and counties, and get as many different icons as possible in each state through which I pass. Spent most of the first day just getting out of Texas. Ended up with a total of 12 finds and traveled more than 900 miles. Found the container but could not get it open even using pliers to sign the log.

Thanks for the history lesson. We figured out what it should be; however, we couldn’t get any of them loose.
