A challenging hike through Old Growth Forest

There are several ways to get to this cache.  The shortest is about a mile hike through Jones Gulch.  It is also accessable from River Run at Keystone.

The Ida Belle Mine is on Independence Mountain.  The cache is just beyone 2 mining cabins, well below the mine.  We would have put it nearer the mine but that is another 2 1/2 miles up Independence Mountain and we would like the cache to be found.

Explore the area if you look for the cache, It is really nice and generally undiscovered.

Please include the route you took to get to the cache in your log. One route is from Jones Gulch TH and another is from Keystone Ski Resort.

Container is a large camoed pill bottle with some small trade items. It is well hidden.  Check the hint before you go.

Looked in every stump and every fender in a 50 ft radius. Must have been muffled. Great hike with the kids, but kind of a downer to not find it.

I headed up to this caching thinking I was going to a FTF. Upon making the find, I found out that it was found back in June and was never logged. Gosh I hate it when people do that - and that's probably why they do it.

With that said, what a fun and challenging find. I knew from the topo maps that the first third of the hike would be the steepest. It was pretty challenging for this FL boy. I started out mid-morning and steam was still rising off the creek and it was pretty chilly. I'd walk .1 on my GPS and rest, walk and rest. When the trail finally leveled off a little, the walk got pretty enjoyable. It was fun seeing the remains of the human habitation. Lots of Moose scat and some fresh hoof prints but thankfully no moose. I didn't really want to try to share the trail with one. I made it down as the storm clouds started building and now its just waiting for them to fire off for the day.

I would like to extend my deepest apologies to ocklawahaboy. I truly thought I logged this back when I found it. Great cache, the trail system up there is pretty awesome. I will be more careful in the future.
