Sweet redemption today! After returning home from dipping on this cache in June, I again re-read the cache page and I saw what I should have read the first time but of course I was at home. So I just needed to find a day to make the return trip. Today was the day.
It was a beautiful October day in the mountains. When I arrived at my parking spot at the junction of FS188 and Bear Gulch Rd it was 55 degrees, perfect for a nice stroll. My truck could have made it down the road but I needed the walk. Didn't see any other vehicles or people on my out and back. One thing has changed though since I was here in June. They have obliterated the trail off of 188 down into the mine area. So it's not a cache and dash anymore.
I arrived at the posted coordinates and with the correct reading of the cache page, it was a quick find. I happily signed my moniker in the STF position and then headed back to my truck. Thanks kai for luring me to this neat location (twice)!!!

Well this one was definitely harder than 1.5 for me today as I searched for about an hour before giving up on it. It's been nearly 4 years since Denali41 found it and I was hoping to get the STF today but no such luck. I did see the items he describes in his log and I did re-read the description but it didn't help. I'll be back again for another try one of these days.

This was a fun day that was focused on a few caches in NW Larimer County. I didn't realize that a cache seeker can drive right to GZ. I parked up on the high clearance road and bushwhacked down to the cache location. It wasn't far, but I did feel a bit nutso when I saw the easier way! I suspect that everything seen from the cache site was once considered "progressive" and "modern" for back-country locations. There's an old car there that reminded me of a car my Dad drove after he returned from Naval duty in the Pacific Theater of World War II. The two cars shared some features/similarities. And then the old cabins that adorn the clearing required some of my attention, too. A neat place!
I signed the cache log as {FTF}. It's been out there for a long time without being found, so I had a happy, progressive feeling about things. Thanks for this interesting challenge. I did need to reread the cache description carefully...
