Determine answers to questions below to find the required coordinate numbers by clicking on the hyperlinks I have provided to related websites and videos. I have visited all these sites without harming my computer and no downloads or signups are required.

Because the answers must be numbers, the questions themselves may not be especially significant to appreciating this great musical artist. The experience of finding the answers, however, will hopefully bring you pleasure as you experience the life and music of a creative musical virtuoso.

Internationally beloved jazz trumpet player and vocalist Louis Armstrong was nicknamed Satchmo, and was also known as Pops. He was a huge influence in the development of jazz in the early 20th century and while every jazz instrumentalist owes him an enormous debt, singers as diverse as Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Marvin Gaye have Armstrong in common as well. In addition to countless radio and TV broadcasts, Satchmo appeared in over 20 feature films. Pops played before heads of state and had private audiences with Pope Pius XII and Pope Paul VI. The great jazz singer Tony Bennett said, “The bottom line of any country in the world is ‘what did we contribute to the world?’…We contributed Louis Armstrong.”

Actual coordinates = N38° 5a.bcd W104° 4e.fgh

a. In 1925, Satchmo recorded as the leader of his own group, “Louis Armstrong and His Hot _______”. Answer found here

b. Not counting Satchmo, how many other wind instrument players are featured in this video of “What a Wonderful World”?

c. Answer = u minus v. Pay close attention to the (parentheses)!

u = How many musicians (they are NOT all men, and NOT all play an instrument) appear in this “When the Saints Go Marching In” video? Pay attention to the parentheses and watch beyond the beginning! Did you see the piano player?

v = After leading the group mentioned in question ‘a’ for two years, Satchmo led and recorded with a slightly larger group in 1927 known as “Louis Armstrong and His Hot _______”. Answer found here.

d. Answer = w minus x

w = In this “Basin Street Blues” video, we hear Armstrong’s classic scat singing following the one minute mark. Check out the trombonist’s use of a mute made from a toilet plunger. How many times does Satchmo wipe his face with his trademark handkerchief?

x = In this video of “Mack the Knife”, with how many people does Satchmo shake hands?

e. In 196__, Satchmo had a #1 hit recording of the title song from the Broadway musical “Hello Dolly”, which knocked the Beatles from the #1 slot they had held with three consecutive songs for 14 weeks. Satchmo was later featured in the final production number of the film version with Barbara Streisand. You may find the number to fill in the blank here.

You will answer two questions (f. and g.) from this video clip from the movie “The Glenn Miller Story”:

f. How many drummers are there?

g. In the same video, how many additional musicians does Louis Armstrong invite up on stage to join the band playing “Basin Street Blues” (he shakes hands with the first group shortly after the one-and-a-half-minute mark and they are real musicians playing themselves in the movie)?

h. Answer = y plus z

y = In this video of the Disney classic “Bare Necessities”, Satchmo finishes by singing a trademark two-word phrase, which can be spelled more than one way. How many total letters does it take to spell these two words, assuming both words end with the letter “h”?

z = In 1942, Louis filmed three “soundies” (______-minute films for coin-operated viewing booths). Answer found here.

Actual coordinates = N38° 5a.bcd W104° 4e.fgh

Thxs for this puzzle. Today was the 3rd time we went to this location for the final, as we were really uncomfortable being on private property. Met the c.o. who assured us it was ok. SL. TNLN except the code on a t.b. so I can discover it as I didn't have a t.b. with me to trade out.
