NEW DIRECTIONS - Travel south then west on CR 110 from HWY 50 in Salida. Take the newly graded Pinion Ridge trail, then a right turn at Sand Gulch Dr. Go to the end to the locked gate. On your left is an unmarked trail, porbably Huthcinson Ln. Take it until you reach the BLM sign 5668B. This will lead you to within 165 feet of the cache - very brushy trail for a full sized car, and you need a 4x4 to get thru the washouts.

I tried to find the route to this cache last week but the new sub division has made the CO's directions obsolete. Luckily I am camping with someone who found it last year. She showed us how to get to 5668A which in itself is an adventure. Once at GZ the cache was easy to find, I'm afraid my Jeep will never forgive me for all the new scratches. It appears the CO has Geocached for exactly 3 days back in 2003 so I doubt if this cache will receive any maintenance except by those finding it. TFTC

Spending our 6th summer in Buena Vista, Colorado. Spent the day doing our 2 favorite things: Jeeping and geocaching with friends. We just love to find those out-of-the-way lonely caches, tfth. WOW what an adventure. We were able to drive right to the meadow, in a well built Jeep. Very overgrown from the pictures. The obvious three trees has a pool of water in the center - real three trees are across the stream.

Since this cache had not been logged since '07, we thought it might be fun to see if we could find it. Alas, we did not. We arrived at the coordinates, saw the meadow and the Juniper tree; the 60 paces SSE agreed within a couple feet with the coordinates. After crossing the small brook there was a group of three trees that even had some branches leaned against them in an unnatural way. We have pictures of this tree and the meadow and Juniper. Spent 30 minutes scouring the sourounding area (quite a bit of bear scat in the meadow!) and went away convinced that the cache is no longer there. By the way, with the new subdivision, it would be so much easier to find that Jeep road into the area if you knew it was now marked on the BLM map as road number 5668B.
The meadow & Juniper
Seems to be the 3 trees

Tough to find if you don't know the area. There is a new development that has obscured the 4X4 road!

Long road in, had great time driving it. Cache had some water damage and the disposable camera wasn't working. Hiked around with the dog and took some pictures, but didnt' go too far off the road due to the hunting season. There was a tiny amount of snow on several sections of road but still passable with 4WD.

Finally found the right trail! Cache was IN the creek. Everything was wet had about a half gallon of water inside. We emptied water and dried as best possible. Don't think any of the swag will be any good after this soaking. TN LN SL TFTC replaced the cache in what I believe was its original location. If rain comes down that hard again may get washed again.

Things have changed from original description! No need to take CR 107 and the power line road. A new subdivision is being put in and there is a major road a good deal of the way. Follow CR 110 (I think - the one across from Colligiate Peaks Bank and the Medical Center on the highway). Follow it south up towards the radio towers on the big bluff overlooking town. The road heads west. Turn right on Sand Gulch Road and the jeep trail you need is at the end of this road (not far). 4WD recommended but not absolutely required. Road narrow with lots of brush, expect scratches! Nice location.
