This geocache is in Chatfield State Park (admission fee required), a popular location for boating and watersports, hiking, biking, dog walking, nature viewing and camping. This cache was placed to commemorate the fourth annual CVSV meetup of RVers from Colorado and across the US and Canada who play every year at our winter camp in Arizona.
This is an easy 2-stage geocache. To determine the actual cache location, do the following steps: (1) At the posted coordinates, answer the following question: "When was Chatfield Reservoir officially opened?" (2)modify the posted coordinates as follows: (a) to compute the last three numbers for the North coordinate, subtract 989 from the answer to the question (b)calculate the last three digits of the West coordinate by subtracting 1573 from the answer to the question.
Now proceed to the Path Waypoint and follow the dirt path to the calculated coordinates.
We hope that you will enjoy the short, scenic, hike near the lake shore after learning a little about Chatfield. The cache is located in an area where you might spot some wildlife. Enjoy !
