first timer--I will check on the cache when the river flow returns to a safe level. Given its nature and location, there's a high probability that the cache is fine and is in place.

I was wondering if it was still there, been a long time!

Congratulations, bbmuffin! You are amazing to have made the two crossings of the Poudre River to get to the cache and back in this period of high flow--without getting swept away!! Way to go!!

I've been looking at this cache since winter and have waited until now for the water to be at a level that made passage across the river manageable for me. I crossed the river using hiking poles to help me keep balance. I wore Teva water wear shoes on my feet for good traction. I crossed without losing balance in the swift current. I never went deeper than waist level by picking a spot that was wide. The scramble up and down the hill was difficult close to the shoreline because of the abundant poison ivy 10'-15' deep. Hazards along the way included lots of loose rock and cacti. I had to climb higher than GZ on my GPS to locate the cache. When you complete this cache you have earned a 4. TFTC.
