Native American Tribe series.Amacano
They are believed to be a tribe possibly connected to the Yamasee tribe. They lived near a Spanish mission on the Apalachee coast in 1674 with two other tribes, the Chine and Caparaz. The three together consisted of about 300 people. While near the mission, the Spanish unfortunately turned down their missionary request. But, the Amacanos still promised friendship and built a church for the coming evangelist. The Spanish traded with the Apalachees and the Amacanos, thus creating stronger ties between the Spanish and the Indian tribes and after a peaceful meeting, both tribes settled the tension that had been between them and other neighboring tribes. By 1639, the Amacanos no longer warred against the Apalachees, but moved closer in order to continue trade with their Spanish friends. Not much information is known about the Amacanos and other tribes during the 1630s and on, but supposedly, the Amacanos and other tribes had descendants that became part of the well known Creek tribes.
