cairn is a man-made pile (or stack) of stones. The word cairn comes from the Scottish Gaelic: càrn ['k?a?r?n??] (plural càirn['k?a?r??])

Cairns have been and are used for a broad variety of purposes, from prehistoric times to the present.

In modern times, cairns are often erected as landmarks, a use they have had since ancient times. However, since prehistory, they have also been built and used as burial monuments; for defense and hunting; for ceremonial purposes, sometimes relating to  astronomy; to locate buried items, such as caches of food or objects; and to mark trails, among other purposes.  Wikipedia

I saw the words "pile" and "rocks" and started to worry. So, I was glad for a quick find.

Rounding up some geocaches while having a good time exploring the area around Denver Colorado. Over the years we have found many a fine geocache hidden in a CAIRN, although in Nevada we call it a SPOR. Thank you for adding to our adventures this year.

This summer's vacation plan was to head to the Pacific Northwest with our friends sixeasy for the Groundspeak 20 Year Anniversary Celebration, then on to Geowoodstock. Well we all know how that turned out! Instead we decided to celebrate by finding some of the older existing geocaches. Colorado puts us in the approximate vicinity of several geocaches on our bucket list. We are concentrating on adding to our non-traditional geocaching numbers and completing a few challenges we are working on.

Greetings from Lake Havasu City, Arizona. We're in Wheat Ridge for two to four weeks while the bride takes care of her mother. Denver has been kind to us in that there are lots of caches that contribute to our goals. Thanks for this cache.

Out running errands and mixing in some caching. Cleaning up a few of the new caches in the area and taking advantage of the free day at Barr Lake state park. Nice hide and camo, SL,TFTC!

Woo hoo! FTF at 6 p.m.! It seemed appropriate that we would have Spartacus Geodog, a CAIRN, help us find this CAIRN cache (photo attached). Nice cache, good hide, cool theme. Thanks for the placement, munsonfam!
