This cache is dedicated to the guy we called the Monument Man as he used to walk Monument Road two to three times per day going to town for the soup kitchen.  We never saw him begging but folks would occasionally drop off clothes and food along the pathway he constructed from Monument Road to his lair.  A couple years or so ago he disappeared and his lair is now in shamble as you will see if you go to this cache site.  Some say he went to Glenwood Springs but we really don't know.  He would use the outside spigot at the vet clinic down the road, with permission of the vet, to wash up.  In summer you would see him bare chested walking to town and back with a large flat piece of cardboard on his head for sun protection. He was well tanned. In the winter he would have a black garbage bag covering himself to shield from the cold winds. He was resouceful in using what he could scrounge as you will see in the lair and pathway. Most of the stepping stones were carried from City property below, no small task.  The cache container is small and old. It contains a few small objects, pencil and log sheet.  Parking for this cache is at the Lunchloop Trailhead on Monument Road. Some rock hopping required.  PLEASE replace the container just as you have found.

Wow! Nice hike. Found log on ground but then found container. Put everything back as it should be. This was definitely a favorite! I was serenaded by a canyon wren!!
