!! Exciting New Cache Series!!

“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado.  This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST is not affiliated with any other ‘Spirit Quest’ group.  Special thanks and credit are given to SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004. The idea has rapidly spread into many states.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task.  It cannot be accomplished by just one or two people.  This project will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers  willing to place these caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.

If you are interested in joining the “Walking Through History Clan” contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of “Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mo untain Passage”.  Use the ‘Send Message” link at the center of the page of their profile.

Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

REMEMBER:

If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.

The cache container is a camoed 35mm film canister.  You will want to enter the cemetery to get to the cache.

This cemetery contains about 1000 headstones.  When I was driving through town on his trip, I did not have this cemetery on my list.  But the thought crossed our minds that a town this size must have had a cemetery so we checked locally and got directions to this wonderfully cared for example.  Lots of soft grass and tall trees made for a very pleasant setting.

When you go looking for this cache, there is no need to stray too far outside the cemetery proper.  If the wind is from the right direction, you may very well get a whiff of the outfall from the sewage treatment plant.  Just stay near where your GPS points you and you will be fine.

I’m on a trek to find caches in the rest of the Colorado counties, in a clockwise direction. Expecting it to take about 5 days, before I start my journey back to Florida. County #59 Phillips. If I was any shorter, I would have needed my bucket/stool. All is well here. TFTC SL

Heading east to Nebraska after spending the night in Longmont and taking a non-scenic route apparently. (Note: a scenic route is defined as having a McDonalds along the way.) But we’ll always stop for a cemetery cache! We redeemed ourselves here and made this find quickly. We are impressed with how green and peaceful this cemetery is. Very well maintained. TFTC.

I wanted an insurance find in Phillips County, so I went after this cache. Sometimes this type of hide gives me a lot of trouble, but not today; I spotted the container as soon as I was on what I considered to be the correct side of the beacon. Nice job and TFTC!
