Ever since I got my first Pikes Peak Atlas, I have wondered about the West Beaver Creek Trail that starts in Gillett and ends up at the summit of Pikes Peak. I finally got a chance to explore the upper half of the trail and place a cache on a viewpoint overlooking the trail route and a lot of the rest of this side of Pikes Peak.

During the final ascent, a majestic buck showed himself in silhouette among the granite stones at the top. With "Buckstone" guarding the cache, I am confident that it will withstand the ravages of time and weather.

Expect a hike of about 2 miles round trip at elevations between 12700 and 13100 feet.

Congratulations to Fraggle1976 and ayersfam for FTF.

12:18 PM Having completed our 64th Colorado county on 8/5, my wife and I are enjoying our customary 2 week stay in Divide. (I never get tired of mentioning the Colorado 64 challenge, since it it was 10 years in the making.)

Today I was privileged to meet with WingsAndTales to be this year's visitors to hike to Sport's Beaver Creek Overlook and see some great views. On the way back, W&T graciously agreed to this short but steep detour. Great views here, too. The hike wore me out. It wouldn't be an epic day without an ernie66 cache.

I signed the log and liberated the travel bug. Thanks, ernie66, for the cache.

Made a return visit with allenmabry today after hiking down the West Beaver Creek trail. It was a beautiful day and the valleys are lush after all the recent rain. I dropped a coin for the next cacher. TFTC

Almost exactly a year since the last log. Beautiful area and great hide. The mountain was beautiful today dressing up for fall. Gets a favorite. TFTC!

When I arrived at the suggested parking area the temperature was in the mid thirties with a stiff wind blowing for the Southwest. I sure wasn't expecting that and while I did have plenty of clothes the wind sure made it cold. I headed down and at first I thought that the cache was on the ridge directly in front of me. As I got closer I realized it was further to the West. While I saw a trail going over the ridge and not knowing where it led to I decided to head down into the ravine. It was ok but I returned on the trail I saw which was much easier. Not much green up here now. The vegetation is mostly brown and red. Fall is definitely in the air up here. Thanks for the great views and hike..

Found with jsarche and sassydil. Cool spot! I called this Bullfrog Overlook since one of the rocks looks like a Bullfrog. I dropped a trackable. TFTC!
