The remaining structures are a church which is currently in use and an abandoned post office and general store. Opened in 1902, seven years after the community’s founding, the store served until 1949 as the community’s center of commerce and information. In addition to operating as a general store, the building variously shared space with a doctor’s office and pharmacy; welcomed the daily stage coach from Elbert; hosted meetings, parties, dances and celebrations; and on election day, served as the local polling place. The one-story brick building marked the center of the community and soon became its visual landmark.

The town was "Wiped out from a flood", as told to us by a Simla Officer.

We really enjoyed finding this cache... favorite point for the cache and the history lesson! The "fourth was with us" on this beautiful Colorado spring day. We visited and found 30 caches, this was one of them. Thanks to all the owners for placing and maintaining these for us to enjoy. It was lovely here today... rolling green grasslands, lots of barns and windmills, and many horses, goats, sheep, even llamas were seen. TFTC SL
