We were having trouble trying to come up with a name for this cache. We wanted to place a high altitude cache, so on the way down the mountain we found a pull off. The elevation on my GPS was 13,899 feet or almost at 13,900 hence the title.

You're looking for a camouflaged tin container, slightly smaller than an altoids. There's room for a log and one or two very small trade items, we left a geocoin in there for FTF. We would love pics of cachers who find it. Good luck, and happy caching!

NOTE: 7/1/2011 - Cache is back up and running! My thanks go to WingsAndTales for making it happen with a new container and coords, Thank You!

 Hints

There is a big rock that overhangs a smaller rock, the cache is in the gap on the right side of the lower rock.

WOW. Most of my caches have been found in the flat lands of Indiana, a couple in the smoky mountains, a few out by the Atlantic. But this absolutely takes the cake. Didn’t make it to the two caches up top, wasn’t quite prepared enough. Not only did I find a cache 1000+ miles from home, I found one 13000 feet above home! Unreal. This mountain is incredible. I can’t take a picture good enough to do it justice. Thanks for hiding this and maintaining it! Fav pt for personal achievement. TFTC

Our fourth cache of the day. We flew to Colorado for the long weekend to hike and summit some 14ers. We landed at DEN this morning around 7:30, picked up our rental car, and immediately drove to Mt. Evans. Great way to acclimate to the altitude by driving to 14,000+' for a short hike. Glad we brought along our national park pass to save the $15 fee.

We began by climbing the short summit of Mt. Evans, then hiked out to the summit of Mt. Spalding. After returning to the car, we stopped to look for this cache on our return trip down the mountain. Scout ended up making the find, as Finance Guy was searching a higher elevation. Many thanks.

That 3/2.5 rating had me a trifle worried, but I needed a find located between 13,500 and 14,000 feet for a tough challenge, so I had to go for it anyway. In actual fact it was pretty easy for me; my GPSr led me close to the hiding place and my geosense didn't have to work very hard after that. Very good job and TFTC! Note: I rescued a TB from the cache and all take it down to lower elevations, but it will probably surpass 10,000 feet a few more times before I'm done with it.

Unexpected, we had an additional day to spend in the Denver area. We decided to drive to Mt Evans, which was a good decision. The cache was quickly found and is in good condition.

Beautiful location, wouldn’t have stopped to admire the lake below if it wasn’t for this cache.
