!! Exciting New Cache Series!!

“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado.  This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST is not affiliated with any other ‘Spirit Quest’ group.  Special thanks and credit are given to SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004. The idea has rapidly spread into many states.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task.  It cannot be accomplished by just one or two people.  This project will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers  willing to place these caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.

If you are interested in joining the “Walking Through History Clan” contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of “Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mo untain Passage”.  Use the ‘Send Message” link at the center of the page of their profile.

Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

REMEMBER:

If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.

The cache container is a camoed 35mm film canister.  You will not need to enter the cemetery to find the cache.

This cemetery contains about 35 headstones.  It appears to be reasonable cared for.

Took us several minutes to track this one down. Watch your step near GZ - lots of trip/fall/sprain ankle possibilities nearby. TFTC!

We approached from inside the cemetery...had to squeeze thru the barbed wire fence to make the find. But in my humble opinion, it was easier than bushwhacking along the outside.

On a second day of a geocaching adventure with Spartacus Geodog on the Eastern Plains. After a night in Flagler, doing some more caching on the way home. Great cemetery series. While I was at the cache location, Spartacus got away from me and we had a chase in the adjacent wheat field. Replaced the cache container. Thanks for the placement, Grand High Pobah!

Today we were on a "quest" to complete the requirement for the Colorado Spirit Quest Challenge---101 CSQ caches. We headed east of Colorado Springs to avoid any leftover snow from the weekend. We always enjoy exploring this part of Colorado and discovering the variety of cemeteries it holds. We had a few DNFs but also replaced a few containers that were truly missing. Most containers were in good shape with dry logs. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining their caches and providing the history for each of the cemeteries.
Signed this cache's log and replaced as found.
