From the time when kids had to walk uphill both way to school. There was dozens of country schools across the county ensuring that no kid had to walk more than 3 miles
The Yuma County School project set out to locate and mark as many of these schools as possible Anyone wanting more information can stop into the Wray Museum
District 58 was started in 1909 formed from district 103 North Willow. It was possibly called the Akey School as many of the Akey Family Homesteaded in the area. If you look at the old tank across the road you will see that it has been signed by many of the Akey family. In the 1920's thru the 1930's it was referred to as the Cook School . Sometime after that it was called the Sunnyside School. The school was sold at public auction in 1948.
