August 14th - Japan surrenders

September 2 - Ceremony and formal signing of surrender

VJ Day marks the end of WWII, and the cessation of fighting against Japan. It is called "Victory In Japan Day or "Victory Over Japan Day".

The confusion over three dates:

There is some confusion over what date is V-J Day. You can consider any (or all) of three dates as V-J Day. President Harry S. Truman caused some of this confusion........

On August 14, 1945, the Japanese government cabled to the U.S. their surrender. This is the date of most modern observances.

On August 15, 1945, news of the surrender was announced to the world. This sparked spontaneous celebrations over the final ending of World War II.

On September 2, 1945, a formal surrender ceremony was held in Tokyo Bay aboard the USS Missouri. At the time, President Truman declared September 2 to be VJ Day.

Regardless of which day you view as VJ Day, World War II was finally over.

So every year the Jersey Guys set out on a caching adventure. This year we flew out to Denver, CO and drove to 12 states, covered over 3400 miles, grabbed a few of the older caches along with the oldest in MINGO. We had eight days to do it and saw a lot of cool country. Our path took us from Denver to WY, Utah, Idaho, Montana, ND, SD, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Missou11061ri and then Kansas, back to Denver. It was a great trip and we found a lot of caches along the way. We thank everyone who placed them, when possible we replaced missing or broken cache containers. The rest of the group posted most of their logs along the way so I hope no one minds this GSAK log. I will go back as needed and supply favorite points as well as any needed photos or answers. Thanks again for all you have done to keep our adventures fun and exciting by supplying and maintaining so many fun hides.

Had a nice visit to Colorado, and found a lot of caches

Found it 04/14/2018 By DeOOpies
From April 12th to June 1th we make a roundtrip with a camper through the west of the United States. Of course to see the country. But also to visit a number of special caches. Our journey begins in Denver. The journey ends in Seattle through a number of National Parks, Los Angeles and San Francisco. As always, the caches on the way brought us to places worth seeing.
Today we went from Watkins to Mingo.
All COs, in this case imusttravel2000, thank you for creating and maintaining your cache. Through your work we have also come to know America in a different way.
Greeting ... DeOopies
