Cachly 8.0 - Tutorial and Hands On Help

Cachly is now on version 8.0! There's a lot of new features including premium features. Whether you want to learn the basics or dive deeper into the advanced and/or premium (i.e. paid) features, this is the place to be! Or, maybe you're an Android user who just wants to heckle me. That works too! Feel free to come and just hang out, log the event and chat amongst yourselves. Just let us Apple fanboys/fangirls have our fun. :)

Cachly is an official API partner of Geocaching.com. However, the app is only available to iPhone and iPad users. And no, there are no plans to release this for Android. The Android official API partner is GeoohGo. This will NOT be discussed during this event though, sorry.

This event aims to help Cachly users of all levels understand the new functions and features of the app. No formal presentation, no sales pitch. I will be projecting my screen to make it easier for others to follow along.

The event will be held on Sunday, July 21 from 1:00p - 3:30p at the Highlands Ranch Library. I have reserved BOTH "Meeting Room A" and "Meeting Room B" for this time. Will give plenty of room to spread out while also allowing the Android users to gather out of earshot. :) While it won't be a structured event, there is a LOT we can talk about in these 2.5 hours, so the earlier you're there, the more I can help! Absolutely no expectation/pressure to stay the whole time. But historically, this time has gone by fast with all there is to go over.

My goal with this event is to answer YOUR questions! Why me? I'm a Cachly Beta Tester (for new features) and have been using Cachly for about 8 years. Here are topics we will likely cover (but not in this order), but ultimately it will be attendee driven. And at the bottom - some of the key new features to Cachly (including an explanation of Cachly Pro (additional subscription required). Cachly Pro: A subscription-based set of premium features, including Pro Offline Maps (previously Premium Offline Maps), Counties/Regions, DeLorme Grid, and Auto Load Live Map. Additional features like CarPlay, Multiple User Logging, and Track Recording & Importing are slated for future updates??.
Updated User Interface: The UI has been modernized with more rounded corners and fewer hard lines, providing a fresher look and feel?.
Maps and Navigation:
- New map layer settings to toggle trail colors and symbols.
- Improved local location/place searching.
- Enhanced live filtering options including a new picker with a search field for state, province, and country filters.
- Added proximity alert sound options.
- Live search filtering allows setting a search radius??.
Logs:
- Logs tab now shows favorite hearts for logs that the user has favorited.
- Cache type icons replace geocaching.com avatar images.
- Own logs show “Great story” and “Helpful” buttons but do not allow upvoting.
- Updated log type names for “Needs Maintenance” and “Needs Archived”.
- Keywords for trackable logs have been added?.
Offline Lists:
- New filtering options by county.
- Tools to generate county lists.
Apple Watch:
- Archived or disabled caches are shown with a strike-through.
Other Features:
- Choice of different formats for copying coordinates.
- Wherigo cartridge download option if the Wherigo app is installed.
- Settings option to choose from up to six recently used maps with a map tile long press.
- User profile updates, including favorite points awarded and available.
