It is about a 2 to 3 mile hike to Ouzel Falls and along the way you will see Calypso Cascade. This is a great hike to take the kids on. I would sugest packing a picnic lunch and taking it with you, but remember the CITO principles.
There are ten types of waterfalls:

Block: Water descends from a relatively wide stream or river.

Cascade: Water descends a series of rock steps.

Cataract: A large, powerful waterfall.

Fan: Water spreads horizontally as it descends while remaining in contact with bedrock.

Horsetail: Descending water maintains some contact with bedrock.

Plunge: Water descends vertically, losing contact with the bedrock surface.

Punchbowl: Water descends in a constricted form and then spreads out in a wider pool.

Segmented: Distinctly separate flows of water form as it descends.

Tiered: Water drops in a series of distinct steps or falls.

Multi-step: A series of waterfalls one after another of roughly the same size each with its own sunken plunge pool.

To Log this Cache you must tell me what kind of waterfalls Calypso Cascades and Ouzel Falls are. Also take pictures of the Waterfalls as those are always beautiful. If you continue along the trail you will reach a lake called Ouzel Lake which is also very beautiful but not necessary to visit to log this cache. There are also views of Longs Peak along the way so enjoy.

NOTE: Please use only the trails to get to the waterfalls. Maps are available at the entrance station.

Have fun hiking and enjoy the Rocky Mountains!

Had a warm, yet very nice hike up to Ouzel Lake. I've spent a lot of time in RMNP from Longs Peak north but this was my first time in Wild Basin. What a beautiful area! On the way to the lake I stopped to enjoy both falls areas to interpret what types of falls they are. I found they are very different from each other. I've emailed my answers to the CO. Thanks GeekWill for establishing this nice EC!!!
