This is one of my favorite trails to run on because of the decent. Mountain bikers love it also for the same reason. I have done both plenty of times and prefer the run down to the ride on a bike.
If you want a good and hard “quick run” start from the Stratton open space parking lot, run up the service road to the trailhead. Continue up the Chutes trail to where it meets up with Gold Camp road, turn around and head back. The run should be just less than 5 miles. If you are looking for something longer head up the same way but continue up Gold camp road to one of the 3 entrances to the Columbine trail that I know of (one just after the first tunnel, a second about a quarter mile past the second tunnel, and the third just above the Helen Hunt falls parking lot). Head down Columbine trail to the Starsmore center and back on the roads to the Stratton open space parking lot. The latter is one of my favorite loops to run at lunch.

Didn't find this guy a while ago. Was going to go back, but since so many DNFs have come through I'll probably going to a different area to find more cool hiking caches.

After a long and careful search I found nothing. Based on my guestimation it washed downhill maybe. It appears EVERY rock had been already turned over. My GPS is super wacky up here so dont know which side of the trail it truly should be on. Maybe next time.

My second cache in the area. Nice trial, I used to bike this area a lot. There were a bunch of muggles out today but they all rode right by without looking up. TFTC!
