Liberty District 73

From the time when kids had to walk uphill both way to school. There was dozens of country schools across the county ensuring that no kid had to walk more than 3 miles

The Yuma County School project set out to locate and mark as many of these schools as possible Anyone wanting more information can stop into the Wray Museum

When this area was first settled it was Arapahoe county. Arapahoe county stretched from Denver to the state line. Old records have been lost or never existed making it hard to piece the early years together. It was called Starnes school. Starnes and Rosenkrans schools were in the same district and Mr Tabor traveled back and forth teaching in both schools

The foundation of the old school is still visible

The school consolidated with Laird in 1950
