It's hidden right off Ruby Wash Trail in Big Hole Open Space just west of the Soapstone Natural Area and north of Red Stone Open Space.
The shortest way there from the trail head to the left of the entrance in Soap Stone is about 26.6 miles. There are a few small grunts but otherwise terrain is fairly easy except when you get into the 3 mile wash which is very sandy and hard to ride a bike through. The cash is a 7inch by 4 inch cylinder with a log book and pencil. It may be closer to go in from Redstone Canyon.

With the nice, long holiday weekend and my knee beginning to heal following knee surgery, it seemed like the ideal time for a long hike at Red Mountain Open Space. Other than a bit of a breeze up high on Cheyenne Rim, I had great weather. I enjoyed the contrast of the greenery against the red rock backdrops. I took roughly the same route as icezebra11, but in the opposite direction. In typical caching fashion, I didn't see a single soul for the first couple of hours on this hike. Then I climbed up to retrieve this cache and both a runner and then a Larimer Co. Ranger truck went past as I was signing the log. TFTC!

Last night the weatherman said we'd have clouds, fog, and drizzle early and then it would burn off by noon. So I waited until about 9:15 before leaving the house this morning thinking the weather would clear up. Well I was wrong (and so was the weatherman)! It was cloudy, foggy, and drizzly the whole 4 1/2 hours I hiked.

I started from the Red Mountain Open Space parking area and set off on foot for this cache and Big View. There were three creek crossings in the first half mile or so from the parking area and I had left my hiking poles at home thinking it'd be a relatively flat hike and I wouldn't need them. I wish I had them for the crossings as creek was running high enough that the stepping rocks had water flowing over them. But I was careful and made it across each crossing without water getting above my ankles. From there on it was a dry hike up the various washes and trails.

I eventually found myself at GZ and as was mentioned in a previous log, the signal bounce made for a longer search than I thought would be necessary. But I let my geosense" take over and I soon found the container in its hiding spot. Apparently a lot of muggles have good geosense too because even though I'm just the fourth cacher to log this one, about that many more have signed the log sheet.

I retrieved the traveler that has been lonely for a couple years, signed the log, and replaced the cache. Then I continued on up the wash and to Big View. Thanks DylanwH for this nice cache in a remote neck of the woods!!!

Enjoy horseback riding in this area, so finally looked up to see if there were any caches around. Found this one with a bit of searching - GPS not too accurate in the canyon. Horses all well-behaved. Finally found our stash of geocache treasures after 2 moves, so left Mickey TB for the next brave adventurer! Thanks for adding a bit of extra fun to our trail ride!

This was quite the adventure one of the prettier hikes i've been on. Yes I hiked it and it wasn't 26 miles...although i did feel it later for sure.

The cache had been muggled a bit. Cowboy Bob says you need to hide your !@#$ better.

The TB was there however. I grabbed it and left a new one.

Thanks for this. Pictures to follow, and I will be giving it a favorites vote.

It isn't located in Soapstone, despite the mistaken cache description.
