!! Exciting New Cache Series!!

“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado. This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST is not affiliated with any other ‘Spirit Quest’ group. Special thanks and credit are given to SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004. The idea has rapidly spread into many states.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task. It cannot be accomplished by just one or two people. This project will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers willing to place these caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.

If you are interested in joining the “Walking Through History Clan” contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of “Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mo untain Passage”. Use the ‘Send Message” link at the center of the page of their profile.

Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

REMEMBER:

If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.

I do like cemetery hides as they are hidden in pretty places with few muggles; they are usually pretty easy to find. This one was no exception; nice job and TFTC!

Found this cache along the way down to Geowoodstock. Started the trip off with a 13-county loop around Colorado to try and get some of the counties that I am not normally near or might get to again. After that it was a nice trip of 5 States in one day as I travel further to Fort Worth, Texas. Tons of awesome caches preselected for counties, virtuals, earthcache or the age of the cache. Some got picked because they looked interesting as I drove through the area. So many good stops along the way took a 11-hour drive into a three-day drive. All the corners of the states along the way are great places to stop as well. I met other cachers along the way and ran into some headed the same direction. At a couple points I met up with a couple police officers and got to chat with them about geocaching. Another great reason to keep some printouts of what geocaching is in your car with you at all times. Thank you to all of the cache owners for keeping these active for all of us to find on our travels. I usually put jokes in all of my logs, but these logs are already going on long enough and honestly after 7 days of solo caching and the extreme cache hunting going on in Texas, I’m tired of caching! Now on to the hard part, documenting everything I saw and did while on this trip. So many photo and caches, it’s been an amazing trip. Again, thank you to all the CO’s and other cachers I met this past week!

I’m working on the Santa Fe Trail GeoTour. Hoping to complete it this year. Out on a wonderful day of geocaching made even better by your cache.
Thanks for the fun.

This was a quick search and a quick find. I like to explore these little cemeteries as I geocache around the country. I'll look at the Tombstones and try and guess at the nationalities of the people that settled the area. I didn't have too much time to look around this one, I still have a quite a few miles to drive and it is starting to get dark.

Found cache. Took a sick day from work to come geocache eastern Colorado - been a while since have been to this part of the state. Surprised to see more snow in Kansas than this part of Colorado, but not complaining. Anyway, make it to location and made the quick enough find after plowing through and sinking up to mid-thighs in that snow drift guarding the area. Also, maasive fog-bank approaches area roughly 11:13AM. Cache in good shape. TN/LN/SL.

Found it. Great morning wake up walk thank you. I had headed the wrong direction. So got my walk in before I take off on the road again. Took the beads. Left my two cents worth. Thanks for the hide.

First find of Day 4 of our 4-day, 5-state assault in the SouthWest picking off new counties and driving through fly-over country up close and personal.

Weather is typical for summer, hotting up in the afternoon with big time winds after a pleasant morning.

Spent most of the day driving the back roads of Kansas, and now Colorado!. Wonderful state!

Thanks for the cache from SoCal!

Kiowa is Colorado county #61, US county #1408
