Souvenir Cache is a High Country Cache, mostly downhill on the way in.
This cache was located to provide a scenic view while lunching on a comfortable rock ledge. Fishermen are advised to bring a rod.

This is intended to be a theme cache using souvenirs from whereever you may have been. It has been “seeded” with some of our many Colorado/Steamboat souvenirs. Bring a souvenir of some far away place to add to this cache and send it on its way. The contents include a camera (take a picture and leave the camera), a log book to record your find onsite and these things:

  • Colorado Shot Glass-
  • Colorado Fish Ring-
  • Steamboat Postcard (please log your find & take this on to a new cache)-
  • Steamboat bumpersticker-
  • Colorado mini flashlight-
  • Colorado Hot Pad-
  • Colorado Key Chain-
  • Colorado State Map (please send this to another cache and mark the location on the map, I'd like to read about where is has been)-
There are easy, indirect routes and less easy direct routes to the cache once you get close. Our 9 year old daughter took the direct route without any problems. Oldsters might want to steer the very young to the indirect route. Photos have been added to assist your quest. The cache is inside a large green ammo box capable of holding larger items. Don’t be shy. There is trail that will make your search easier located at the rear of campsite 5. Starting there is an excellent idea.

The forest service gravel road has been improved to the point that our Toyota Van zipped along at 30mph for most of the 10 mile drive from Grizzley Creek campground. Noone should need a 4x4. From parking to cache was about a 20 minute walk along an obvious trail. Remember to take a picture. Leave a note at the website telling me which number photo you took.

What a beautiful lake! I can't believe we didn't have a camera with us. We decided not to take one as it was raining. Pouring rain by the time we got back to the car. A great hide on the cache. We did sit and ponder. :-) TFTC TNLN

We found this today with our son, silverlobo. The road up to this lake is VERY bad... a low riding car would have trouble getting here from Steamboat. The lake is beautiful and the walk nothing strenuous, but oh, that drive up! We tried for this cache back in 2006 the last time we were here (we're from PA), but had to turn around due to back road conditions. We had been here in September and around 9000', the road turned to ice. We were glad to come back and make the find this time. TFTC

WOW! This was very beautiful up here, but very hard to get to. I was with ecfackler and by the time we got to the lake to park, I had an upset stomach from the bad road. The view was really pretty. thanks

Nice hike to a great area.

Beautiful hike to this lake. Mosquitoes are out and about. Me thinks this is NOT a level (terrain) 2. More like a 3.5/4. Be warned, or maybe the cache owner should revise. TNLNSL. TFTC.

Out from Michigan on an elk hunt. I have been eyeing this cache for several years and finally got to make the climb and the find. Met a fisherman on the way named Gary (the small speck beside the tree on the grassy point in the first picture). I came all the way up here from near the old Grizzly Creek Campground and realized I didn't have a pen. Fortunately, Gary did, and blazed the trail down to the lake. He also gave me permission to use his image on this cache page. All is well with your cache. You have earned a point from me.

A beautiful hike in to the cache. We had been to Summit Lake a number of times, but never been on down the trail to the next lake.

Took a drive this afternoon from the Steamboat side of Buffalo pass, West side is much rougher than the East. Found the cache pretty easily.
L - skateboard that we found back in Iowa last year, T - resemblance of an ear of corn.
Threw some flies & lures near by for a couple of hours without any luck, any day fishing is better than any day in an office cube Wink

Heard and saw a marmot nearby . This was a hard one. Signal kept bouncing around.
