I've had this one on my list for a while. I used this as a tune-up hike to get acclimated and it was just that. Didn't leave enough time to go to the top, but I've been there before. However, I do want to summit Buffalo Mt again some time. TFTC.

Took a little while to find this one. Wasn't where my geosense said it should be. At first I questioned the terrain rating being low-then I did the rest of the hike to the summit and saw a true level 5 terrain. Saw a ptarmigan with 4 chicks and the herd of mountain goats. This one gets a favorite from me. I never would have found this great, challenging hike without this cache's existence. TFTC

Found while visiting from CA & staying with some relatives in one of the gore trail condos. I looked around for some cool caches & knew I couldn't pass this one up. What a fun adventure! I love challenging hikes & this one definitely fit the bill. At GZ coords were really good & after a minute or two I spotted the subtle hiding spot. Two of the locks are broken but the container was otherwise in great shape. I forgot my pen but had a stamp so that's all I used in the log. After replacing I continued to the summit & enjoyed the spectacular views in every direction. I took a snack break & then headed down, finally meeting some goats on the way to the boulder field. That was an awesome experience & definitely worth a fav point. Very cool & fun hike! Thanks for getting me up here & TFTC!

What a great but streneous hike up to Buffalo Mountain. The views on a great day like today are just incredible. Pretty amazing to walk in a group of mountain goats for quite a while. We picked the cache up on our way down. Thanks for putting a cache in such a great location.

I needed a daily cache so I went for this one. OK, so I really just picked this one up during the hike up Buffalo Mountain with my daughter. We passed the cache on the way up assuming that the trail would cut back that way, but when it didn't we decided to get it on the way down. After a long and arduous hike/climb to the summit we were chased off the summit by the goats, literally, as we then became part of their herd as they headed down to the tree line late in the afternoon. They passed us and then came back up above us. As we moved onto the boulder field to descend they came back down to show us the way. There were about 12 of them of all sizes including one very young one. Since they were using the same trail that we were to descend we had to try to stay out of their way many times. It was incredible and sometimes scary to be hiking among them for at least an hour. They proved to be very docile though. At one time one of them decided to come right back up the trail we were on and we had no time to back up so we huddled in the cleft of a rock and he passed by on the trail within 3 feet of us! When we finally got back down to the cache it took a while to find. I assumed it would be under one of the trees, but it wasn't quite. Thanks for the hide on such a lovely mountain trail.

I got about 3/10 of a mile from the cache as the crow flies but there was just too much snow on the trail for me..
