The Cartridge is available Here

This Wherigo Cartridge is a historical tour of Castle Rock centered around the Star of Castle Rock that is lit from aboout Thanksgiving to the first week of January every year.

Welcome to the story behind the Star of Castle Rock. I have worked with two groups to try to make sure that the information presented is true and the locations historically meaningful.  Just a suggestion, but this cache would be more meaningful if you do it around dusk during the month of December.

Designed to be a walking tour, but most zones include a parking spot so the Wherigo Tour (except the final) can be done from your car.

Please follow roadways and don't try to cut through neighborhoods.

You do NOT need to cross the railroad tracks at ALL to do this Wherigo adventure.  Please be safe and keep your distance.

It seems that the cartridge is assigning completion codes that are 3 characters too long. Cut off the last 3 characters and post 15 characters only.

There are lots of historical buildings along the route.  For more information, feel free to scan the QR codes on the Historical Markers.

Have fun!

Atomic Corgi and I were out on the town and I thought this would be a good cache to go for. We have lived in Castle Rock for a little under half a year now and were lucky enough to move before the star lighting ceremony, so we were able to be a part of everything as it happened in a way.

We had fun doing this on a somewhat cold Colorado day. The wind wasn't too bad and the walking around town made for seeing some spots that we hadn't had the chance to visit yet. We even stopped by the candy shop and bought a few things about halfway through the journey.

I enjoyed all of this cache, learning about the local history and getting the chance to walk through it. The last stage threw us for a loop and that was the only one that we didn't enjoy as much because we had to go back to where we had already been. I think I speak for us both when I say that I can't wait until it gets warm because we both will get to see more of the town.

Please consider the completion code above for both I and AtomiCorgi.

Out caching with FeartheFish and like usual driving his butt all over the place. Out getting a few degrees for the 360 challenge and picking up some other caches along the way. Joined by T5M for this one. See their log for the description of our walk about town. TFTC!

Out grabbing some Wherigo’s with Fearthefish and Herndonrd. This one had us going in circles. But love the journey thru Castle Rock and our journey to increasing the Wherigo stats.

Some may say we are crazy, but this game/hobby is one of the greatest gifts. Who doesn’t love a great scavenger hunt. Hiking, biking or driving hundreds of miles to sign our name on a piece of paper. This brings us a lifetime of joy.

Thanks for placing this cache and keeping our recreation going. SL/with PoshCacher/MagicCacher.Tftc

I'm trying to gather 31 whereigos for a challenge. They are always challenging. This one was not an exception. Found with @intrepiidexplorer and @windatmyback while hustling to complete the Hidden Creatures campaign. TFTC! Completion code GIZTQMRTG13D for all three of us.

Drove around in the rain after climbing heart attack Hill. Found all of the locations and then came to reward grandpa with a Father's Day refreshment. Was very surprised to find the coordinates for the final nicely dovetailed with my grandpa reward plan. Thanks for a great where I go

We had planned to end our caching streak at 800 days yesterday, but today was gamma's birthday and hey! you have to cache on your birthday!! The weather was just perfect as is so often the case the end of January, so we decided to head north and hike that big rock! What fun we had getting a traditional, a mystery, an earth cache, a multi-cache and a Wherigo.

We had fun walking around the historic town of Castle Rock and learning more about the history of The Star. Thanks for this fun Wherigo.
