Oh man, they really did a number of this road. I'm not sure how bad the flood damage was, but whatever the flood didn't destroy the forest service took care of.
I rode my bike along the south side of the Switzerland trail and found a couple caches. There were a few snowy patches, but nothing I couldn't handle even with the slight incline. I found the Lemonade Stand cache (parked the bike), then decided to investigate this road, figuring it followed the creek marked on my topo map down to this cache. This was a very foolish decision. The snow got deeper and deeper the further I descended into the gulch and the road destruction got worse and worse. At first, it wasn't too hard walking with my bike, but the bumps and rocks in the road continued to get bigger. By the time I finally got to GZ, my pants were soaked up the knees and I had eaten it a couple times. Eugh.
Finding this cache was a nice consolation, but I really wish I would have saved it for another day. I wasn't about to walk back up the mountain with my bike, so I continued down to the lower part of the Switzerland Trail. The going was obviously much better on a road that hasn't been destroyed, but there was a lot more snow here than on the southern part. Night fell soon after, and I spent the next 45 minutes walking and (rarely) peddling in darkness. Bad, bad decisions. Fortunately I made it back, and at least I didn't drag anyone else with me into this miserable situation.
tl;dr the side-run road is jacked up and covered in snow right now, don't bring your bike and give yourself enough time before dark.

Found on a day out jeeping with members of Team Red Rubicon. The road/trail to this was closed at the time to the jeeps because of flood damage so we hiked it after sitting at the bottom of the trail for lunch. TFTC

Had a fun day of jeeping and caching with Team Red Rubicon! The road is now closed, so we hiked up to the cache.

A fun group find on this one. Everything in good shape at the cache. Trail closed to vehicles but a good excuse to walk off the lunch calories! TFTC Team Laxson!

Out for a day of wheeling with TRR and bagged a bunch of caches, haven't been up here in years so it was fun to get back!
this particular trail is closed, so I sure hope the previous log entry with photos is a different trail otherwise you knowingly posted pictures of breaking the law.
we hiked to this cache and enjoyed the walk.
