One of a series of caches recognizing figures from Pueblo's early days.
Henry Thatcher graduated from the Franklin and Marshall College in his native Pennsylvania, and then graduated in law from Albany University, New York, and followed his two older brothers to Pueblo, where he set up a law practice. As a young lawyer he held various positions for the city, county and school district, also serving as US Attorney for Colorado and as a member of the state constitutional convention. He was elected to the Colorado Supreme Court and served a three-year term as its first Chief Justice, after which he returned to Pueblo and resumed his law practice. He died in 1891 while on a trip to San Francisco.
