A cache along a subalpine lake.  Distance to the cache is approximately 1.5 miles with 700 feet of altitiude gain.  Assume no cell service in caching area. Trail is not maintained.

This cache is located at a subalpine pond at the base of a cirque at the headwaters of Current Creek Loop.  The round trip hiking distance is approximately 3 miles. From trailhead to cache is about 700 feet of altitude gain. The trail is underdeveloped at times and is not regularly maintained.  There is no cell service in caching area so be sure to download the caching information and bring the hiking essentials.  Be prepared!

The trail begins to the right of the creek.  Follow the trail along Current Creek.  Stick to the most prominent trail.  Keep hiking up and the trail will come to the Berthoud Pass ditch.  Take a right and hike along the aqueduct for a short time until you come to a boulder field.  From there the trail fades away.  Head up the hill to the north towards the large rock cirque face.  Here you will find the cirque pond!

The cache is hidden in a group of trees.  See picture for location.  A downed tree has fallen between two trees.  The cache was placed on the tree to the right.  It was hidden 6 feet above ground level in summer.  Enjoy this beautiful area and return the way that you came.  As an alternative way down you can return to the aqueduct and continue past the trail which you hiked up.  You will come to a water gate.  Continue along the aqueduct which eventually flows into a pipe.  Continue down the steep aqueduct trail.  Just beyond a low spot in the aqueduct trail the hiking trail reappears on the left before the large uphill.  Continue taking the trail down, passing the Peter Rabbit Hut.  Continue along the trail downhill until you meet the the inbound trail just across the stream.  From there is it a short distance back to the trail head.  I hope you enjoyed the Current Creek area.

Congratulations to J&J Team Yukon for being the most honored first to find.

{FTF} These Okie flat landers come to the Gramby area every fall to cache and hike.
Arrived yesterday and started looking at caches in the area and what do we see? A cache that hasn't been logged! OK, since we just arrived we are not acclimated to the altitude but decided to go for it. We have hiked this area before so we new the reward was view of a lake and hopefully a clean log. The CO's direction and coords were right on. Made it to GZ and was rewarded a clean log and beautiful scenery. Signed log, had our snack and headed back. Hope maybe CO will be at the event next week. Thanks for a fun adventure!
