Alex Hiding the Cache
Looking Down from the Cache

Cache is located just off Colorado Hwy. 9 between mile marker 20 and mile marker 21. I rated difficulty 1.5 because you will have to climb up the hill a little ways and terrain a 2 because the cache is on the side of the hill near some rock formations. My GPS showed an altitude of 8361 ft.
There will be a brown sign at the gate that says "Thirty-one Mile Mountain Road 5745". There is another sign next to it saying that you are entering public land. Go through the gate. You can park on either side of the creek. If you choose to park on the other side of the creek I would sugest a veicle with adeqate ground clearence. As you are driving through the gate look up straight ahead of you. You will see a big pine tree. Go toward s the tree.Gate is approximately .7 miles from the Guffey turn off. If you are traveling north on Hwy. 9 the gate will be on your left and traveling south on Hwy. 9 the gate will be on your right.cache is a blue tupperware container. On the side of the container it says "MR VOLKSWAGEN CACHE". The original contents of the cache are:TB Slug Bug Purple, Zipper Clip, (2)AA Batteries, PPIR Patch, Nesquik Key Chain, Game Maker Pin, $1 Token from Colorado Central Station Casino, Lighter, Band-Aid, Pencil, Pen, Cross Pendant, Survival Blanket, & Log Book. If you continue to follow the road you will have great views and you can see parts of the town of Guffey, CO. You should have a four-wheel drive vehicle to continue up the road. I have been to this area many times.

Making a loop from BV, Salida, Guffey, Hartsel and back to BV. When I got to cache I realized my pen had fallen out of my pocket and I was not going to go up and down that hill again. Coordinates seem to be a little off. TFTF

Thanks for the cache, a little treacherous with snow on the ground, my GPS was off, caught a glimpse of it on the way down.

Took Spiderman town left shirt pin.... Awesome cache a bit hard to find

Scrambled around that rock formation. Soil was very soft and hard to get a good footing, so we didn't go too high up. Rats, no smiley face.

Mr Volkswagen, thank you for such a wonderful cache. This was a true treasure to find out here. I climbed too far up but found some interesting things. Photos to be posted later.

Nice scramble up the side of the hill, watch for slick pine needles. Great hint, took us right to it. Tftc

Such a nice morning I desided to take Olive to find a few caches that we seem to drive by a lot! This is one of them. It seams that I alway say I will grab this one on my way home when I go to Fairplay but I ALWAYS run out of time. So today this is our first one of the day. I drove through the creek and parked about 100 ft from the hide. Like always I went way to high on the hill but I did find the hermits hut!! I read the hint and spotted the container coming back down the hill. The cache is in GREAT shape and I grabbed the traveler to move along. Stamped the log and were off to the next one.[8d][8d] SL TFTC

Neat cache, but very difficult to find. The GPS jumped all over the place. We basically found it by accident, about 70 Ft. off. We decided not to drive through the creek and on the way back to the car, I didn't quite make the jump. One wet shoe and wet sock and wet foot for the rest of the day! We dropped off Hiker
Bunny TB here. Hopefully this cache will get more visitors now. Tftc.
