!! Exciting New Cache Series !!

“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes to pay respect the many pioneer ancestors that ‘walked’ before us.

There are numerous hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado. This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST is not afflicted with any other Spirit Quest group. Special thanks and credit is given to SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004. The idea has rapidly spread into many states.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task. It can not be accomplished by just one or two people. This projects will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers willing to place caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of these pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado a great state.

If you are interested in joining the “Walking Through History Clan” contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of “Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – The Passage through the Mountains”. Use the ‘Send Message” link at the center of the page of their profile.

Each person that places a cache will be reasonable for the maintenance of such.

REMEMBER:

If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.

You can approach this cache from Wandcrest to walk into the cemetery (from the west), or from the east (but there is no gate on that side). There is a unique sheet metal obelisk marking one of the graves. The oldest grave I found was from 1885.

Nice one

Today I came up to Staunton State Park in hopes of grabbing an FTF. After an hour journey in traffic from Southeast Aurora, we arrived just before dusk. Sometimes I'm nervous about caching in the mountains. The tall peaks interfere with my GPS signal and I fear that it also interfered during placement. So inevitably, I am mentally preparing for being lost in the woods and attacked by bears, mountain lions, and elk. Glad it hasn't happened (yet.)
After grabbing caches in the park, I headed out alone. I pulled up in darkness and was slightly concerned about the nearby homes. But I didn't take long to find the cache. It's still there!
TFTC!

So today it was supposed to be 95+ in Denver, so Ms. Anne and I decided to head for the hills. We had a number of possible targets, but decided on Pine Valley Ranch Park.

This was on the way. I think I looked for this a few years ago and didn't find it. Almost failed again today. There is a big treefall that has really torn up the fence, making the cache harder to get to.

Signed the log KAJW. Took nothing. Left nothing. Thanks for the cache!
Logged from my Galaxy S8 using the Geocaching App.

Found it! Came up yesterday from the Denver area with the geofamily to stay in a cabin in Pine. I escaped this morning to do some geocaching in this beautiful area. Reminds me of when we briefly lived in Evergreen for a year about 20 years ago. TFTC! Met a lovely couple in a walk afterward who checked on me. They were familiar with GC so all was good :)
