Coalcamp

On your way you will pass one of the best places to watch boaters negotiate a fine Colorado River rapid. Also note how the land is reclaiming itself after the very bad fire of 2002.

The cache is in a plastic container out of obvious sight under some old tin. You do not have to cross the creek. It contains a Travel Bug, old Pesos and a Colorado Rockies pin.

Take exit 111 cross the Colorado River and continue 2.1 miles along the creek, at 0.9 miles bear left. Look for a large, old tree near the road.

Coal Camp was a thriving community in the early 1900's with a school, store and a rail spur to the Colorado River. If you continue about 0.1 miles up the road and look high to your left you will see where the 2002 Coal Seam Fire started.

Unfortunately there was a lot of snow and I was waist-deep. I will be back in the spring. I probably had better luck finding Sasquatch than a geocache.

We had a nice drive down this road to come and look for the Cache a nice quick find in an interesting area we did the extra drive to have a look where the fire started.

We got to GZ with no trouble at all, but then had several sets of eyes looking for a D 1.5 for over 15 minutes and no smiley. Dang.
