Are you ready for the ultimate Colorado challenge?  The Colorado DeLorme Atlas and Gazetteer has 92 map pages.  You need to find 92 caches to complete this challenge.  Do not go to the listed coordinates, they are to the Denver Zoo.
Please note that the coordinates posted on this page are not the coordinates for the final cache-indeed they might not even be close to its location!!!

1.  Find a cache within the boundaries of each page of the Colorado DeLorme Atlas & Gazetteer.  All cache types count as finds for the DeLorme Challenge.  If a page overlaps into another state, then the cache must be within the State of Colorado.  (10/10/06 The cache must also be listed with the state of Colorado, the virtuals that are listed in other states that border Colorado don't count).

2.  Generally accepted rules, guidelines and conditions for logging a cache find apply.  These must be bona fide caches listed on Geocaching.com that you have personally (physically) found and logged.  You may include caches found prior to the creation of The Colorado DeLorme Challenge.

3.  Remember all caches must meet the guidelines of geocaching.com.

4.  After completing the challenge you will need to notify me that you have found all the required caches.  I will verify that online logs satisfy the requirements.  I will then send you the coordinates to the final cache and log book.

5.  If you find the final cache accidently, your log will be deleted until you complete the challenge.

6.  (10/10/06)Page 102 and 103 contain 2 maps on each page.  You must find a cache for each of these maps.

7.  (3/16/07) Logging of a cache that has been archived will not be counted towards the challenge.  If a cache gets archived after you have logged it, it still counts.

8.  There are a number of editions of the Delorme Atlas now out with minor printing differences.  To avoid any confusion about what page a cache is on, the following table will be considered the authority.

This was our fifth DeLorme challenge. There are many memories from our travels to work on this challenge. One was logging our caches from a trip on Southwest Colorado to find out we missed on page! There were areas in the mountains we retuned to because of the beauty that we found on the first pass. Not the most efficient way to complete the challenge, but it was great to discover and return to the mountains. Thank you

It's been years in the making, but at last I completed the challenge. It took two long weekend campaigns to nock out the remaining pages on the western edge of the state and the few stragglers along the southern border. But I got it done. Saw some remarkable places I otherwise would have missed. Once revealed, I signed the final log sheet yesterday. Thanks for keeping the challenge going.

Our last visit to Colorado was in 2018 with the initial purpose of doing the DeLorme as well as finding all the counties. In the midst of this goal, we discovered a beautiful State that invites us back repeatedly to enjoy the many vistas and nooks and crannies... some we would not have discovered except for geocaching. On 5/16/18 we signed the log sheet (with the permission of the CO) and wrote a note that we planned to finish. Now that we have met the challenge we look forward to returning to some of our favorite spots in the future. Definitely gets a "favorite" point! TFTChallenge Greasepot

We posted a note on 09/24/2019 when we signed the final log, and said we'd be back to finish the Challenge.
We intended to return in the Spring of 2020, but COVID had other plans.
We finally felt safe enough to travel, and spend a week finishing up the grids.
We loved CO, a magnificent state, and much appreciated that almost everywhere we went people wore masks.
Thank you Greasepot for this most enjoyable challenge!

Signed this one nearly six years ago and finally finished it two years ago but never logged the cache. Realized that tonight as I was perusing through some stats. This is only my second Delorme finish and I hope to finish a third one in about another five years or so....TFTC SL

1:53 PM We are here from Dallas for what has become a customary August vacation in Divide in order to skip the Texas heat for a couple of weeks.

Today we drove to Denver mainly for the Colorado DeLorme and Great Square of Colorado challenges, plus a rare D/T combo involving a tree climb instead of hanging off a cliff.

We are capping it off with a geocache event to celebrate RPieperCO's 4 year geocaching anniversary.

I've been caching in Colorado since 2007. I've seen some great places. One of my favorite memories is creating the hill on "Dos Lagos" near Montezuma and seeing 4-5 deer bounding away. Over the past two years, after having completed county and DeLorme challenges in other states, I became better at insuring that I lit up a DeLorme grid as we as the county. We did a big swing through northern and northwest Colorado last year. In June of this year I did an epic solo trip and, among other things, finished the last 5 DeLorme pages in a checkerboard pattern across southwestern Colorado.

Today I was able to close out this adventure. I had a nice conversation with "garlic" while I signed the log. Thanks, Greasepot, for the cache. This one definitely gets a favorite point from me.

I took a meandering trip over several days to finish up this and other challenges. I knocked off the six remaining Colorado sectors (089, 078, 084, 074, 064, 065) on 5 June.

I had a brief heart flutter when project-gc said I didn't complete sector 084, but I checked the cache coordinates against the values on this cache page and they are within the range. Thanks for the clarity of requirements!

Here is my list using GSAK macro: (Part 1)

Today we are driving through some very interesting parts of Colorado...isn't it all?! Glad to knock off a few more DeLorme pages and counties... and we will need to come back to Colorado to finish it up after finding this one today. A huge "thank you" to the CO for the coordinates as we are traveling. We will be back.

Headed up from Catalina, AZ to finish this important part of the Colorado DeLorme Challenge after spending last weekend in Colorado caching. First stopped early in the morning in Utah to sign the log. Made it through Colorado to the cache, signed the log before the snow sets in soon. Thanks for the challenge, not sure which was harder, driving all over the state turning rocks, looking in trees, under bushes , then trying to take a selfie or the final hike through the gate to the cache. Anyway, it is done.

Braved a couple of rain storms and a lot of backtracking to get this challenge out of the way. For those interested I used the Colorado DeLorme12th edition. I did find the CO's matrix very useful when it came to a cache on the fold of a page. There is a downloadable list in the Bookmark section (Equine1030) Ready for the final before the snow.

Wow, we live in a beautiful state! And we've had so much fun exploring it from edge to edge and corner to corner as we worked to complete the counties and DeLorme challenges. We found and signed both final caches today.

We started caching after getting our first GPS for Christmas 2008. I don't recall when we learned about the challenges but I don't think we decided to seriously work on them until sometime in early 2011. Since then we've made 13 trips to different parts of the state, some just for caching and some caching on our way to other states. We finished our last counties and pages in early July with a trip to the southern part of the state that included a relaxing visit to the Pagosa Hot Springs and a spectacular day riding the Durango-Silverton Railroad.

Thank you to everyone who placed the caches we found (and the ones we didn't find) on our journey. And a special thank you to Greasepot for maintaining this challenge. We've added favorite points to many of the caches we've found along the way and are adding one for this cache as well.

Woo-Hoo! We got it! Quick find in an urban setting...
I started this challenge 2-3+ years ago, and was getting close by this summer. Then Estes Lynne & I started on a couple of cache-runs to complete this, first heading to the east & SE (getting the SE corner in the process), and then a second mega-trip for the NW corner and the handful of DeLorme pages I needed, and all those pages Lynne needed. Still can't believe that pages 32-32 have NO active towns, and maybe 2 major roads on each page - thanks to the 'cachers who put caches way out there! Not many, but enough to complete the Challenge! All those miles, all the scenic byways, and all those caches - are all pretty awesome. Thanks for the Challenge!

Whee! Woo hoo! Hurrah! Ta-da! (You get the idea)

Bug Ranger and I spent a lot of days and a LOT of miles (more than one tank of gas, thank you very much) finishing up this challenge, which we finally completed a couple of weeks ago. We had a great time along the way, especially when we were on those pages (32 and 33, we mean you) where there are NO towns and we are just crossing our fingers that nothing goes wrong. Still, I now feel like a genuine Coloradan. I haven't seen it all, but pretty darn near.

Today we finally got our act together enough to get down here for the final. After everything else you'd think we'd be geniuses at navigation, but I must say that the roads around this area are confusing. Still, our names are on the list and WE ARE DONE.

Did I say hooray? Thanks for spurring us to do this!
