Thanks, Tahosa, for placing this cache 16 years ago! My dog and I hiked in from the locked gate and really enjoyed the adventure. The area is beautiful and the cache is in perfect shape after all these years. This gets a favorite point for being secluded and beautiful and well worth the effort.

I took a walk up Little Valley yesterday, and noticed that the gate to FR 119 was open. I’ve been waiting for this, and asked BugRanger if she wanted to go after this cache today. She was game, so up and up we went! My trusty Outback had to work a bit, but made it to the Pierson Park trailhead before we decided to give it a rest and hike the remaining 0.4 miles or so. We followed a road most of the rest of the way, and then didn’t have much trouble climbing up to GZ and its wonderful views.

Finding the cache wasn’t a slam dunk although the coordinates were good. It took us a few circles of the rocky outcrops before BR spied it in its niche. From there it was all celebration and scenery enjoyment. An oldie, a lonely cache (it’s been almost 3 years since its last find), a letter X cache, a D/T combo I wanted—how great is all that?!

As for the road—I wouldn’t take a regular car up FR 119 but the Outback handled it OK and any true 4X4 would have no problem at all. We may be back to get some of the other lonely caches in the vicinity. For now, TFTC!

On a spur of the moment idea by EstesLynne, we piled into her Subaru to drive up to this cache. The gate was open, and we followed FS Rd 119 to approximately Pierson Park TH, about 0.3 mi as the crow flies to the cache. We hiked the rest of the way along the road, and followed it around the southern part of the point to the top, then began our search. Took just a few minutes, and we had the cache in hand. Nice to find a "lonely cache", which hasn't been found in nearly 3 years. Great views from up here. TFTC!

EDIT: I logged this on my phone, so it was kind of short... I've added more info.

Brought a friend and made a day of hiking and exploring. The road is closed because of water wash outs supposedly. Although, after hiking it, I discovered that I could have drove it if the gate was open. The hike was amazing. Who knows what I would have missed if I had driven it. This is my first 5 rated cache and was pretty happy to find it. When we realized that the road was closed, we decided to just hike and see if we could reach it. The location of the cache made it all worth it, even if we didn't find it.

This is one of my favorite caches (added a favorite point). I wish we had ones like this in Minnesota. Not just the scenery but the difficulty. This is what caching is all about to me. Exploring... finding a place you would probably have never found. Thank you for sharing this location by placing a cache here.

My #333 find. TFTC. ~ Found using Locus Pro for Android ~

The valley on the other side of the peak

We managed to sneak past the gate at the beginning of NFS 119 and drove about halfway there, then we got out and hiked the rest of the way. The hard way. It wasn't until we got to the top that we saw the meadow and the road/trail!

Cache is in good shape. I took some junky stuff and left a scuba diving flashlight, a commemorative Mt Rushmore coin, and a pathtag.

This cache gets me a T5 souvenir and a cache beginning with "X" for one of Moose's challenges.
Almost there

This was the trail we didn't take

It was really windy this morning in Loveland but up in the Estes area it wasn't too bad. Pierson Park Rd is still closed so I parked at the locked gate North of the cache and hiked in. It was a pretty easy hike, 3.5 to 4 miles round trip. I didn't see anyone until I was almost back to the truck. A nice view point it is, I've attached some pictures. Grabbed Storm Trooper Luke TB which didn't show up in the inventory. Thanks for the cache Joe.

Found with friends - great views and fall color!

Found this while introducing some friends to geocaching, and with Phase 53. Unfortunately, we didn't do a very good job of selecting the best route to the cache. We did some very difficult bushwhacking to the cache site, then found that we could have driven almost all the way there. The view from the cache site was definitely beautiful, especially with the aspen turning golden yellow. Thanks for placing in such a beautiful location! Did some trading and SL.

I wasn't sure if we'd make it to this one, but we did! Between the quality of the road, getting rained on a bit, and not knowing exactly how far we would have to walk, I wasn't sure attempting this one was a good idea. Cache is still there and in great shape...the road, not so much. :) TFTC!
