An easy cache in Central Boulder with historical overtones

The second in a planned series of caches relating Boulder's heroes.

NOTE

On 8/16/18 I decided the original GZ was becoming a little too iffy with all the homeless around, so I relocated the final a short distance away.

The given coordinates will take you to an historical plaque. The final location is a short walk from the plaque.

From the plaque, determine:

year of the gentleman's birth = X1 ____

year he joined the Navy = X2 ____

# of fellow flyers in 1959 = X3 ____

year of his big trip = X4 ____

depth which earned him a dual title = X5 ____

only numeral on the plaques at the bottom of the nearby (235' NE) flagpole = X6 ____

Second Hero’s cache of the day for me. Walked to the first one on my own as the sun prepared to rise.

Had much nicer company and temperatures for this adventure. Took M2 the long way here to get some nice views of the mountains and Boulder Creek.

Spent a little time gathering some information before our arrival but needed to update a couple of things. Used the better numbers to complete our task.

What beautiful weather for exploring today than yesterday! Had a ton of people on the trails and enjoying the park today. No muggle issues while making our find. Signed in and replaced as found.

Thanks for getting us to explore such interesting historical figures during our visit!

It is a great geocache. It looks like it’s been here a while but it’s in good shape. Thanks to the owner for such a great puzzle and fine. The only downside is the part really is overrun by homeless at this point. Makes a little difficult with kids.

Found it, yay! I came by and solved it on Friday, but had to get back to work. So today was glad to come back and find it before I head out. I’m always surprised when I’m out in Boulder how many path options there are for walking, running and biking. One of the reasons I love coming to visit. And a plethora of caches. Thanks to all COs, especially DES as this was my 2nd to find. Beautiful morning! Did not sign, as I was afraid if I got it out I wouldn’t be able to get it back in. But have pics if needed. TFTC
