Here's the approach that's most likely to succeed: 1. Figure out what kind of computational machine this puzzle involves. There are now five different pieces of information here that might point you to the correct puzzle type. Familiarity with math and computers may help with this, but isn't absolutely necessary. 2. Figure out what you're supposed to do with all those waypoints. Until you've done #1, you're not likely to succeed with this. 3. Work through the rest. There's still quite a bit of work to do.

Wow... where to even start with this? I have glanced at this off and on over the years I've been caching. I've read the logs and could only begin to fathom what might go into solving this. I'm sure most people are more sane than I am and just put it on their ignore list. I thought I had an idea of where to start at one point. But I was wrong. I came back to it a month or so ago and got my head clear and got the answer to the first hint. But that didn't help much.

I got on a little bit of a puzzle solving kick a while ago and noticed a few things about this cache, but still couldn't crack the code. So I reached out to a former finder. He gave me a few ideas to work with; but not the full solution.

While I was home sick from work I really went to town on this (pun intended). Virtually at least. Anyway, I got the first half, and then promptly got stuck. Well, I should clarify that I got enough "right" to be told that I was wrong by the checker. What was I missing?? I knew I was on the right track, but couldn't drive this across the line. Finally I adjusted my approach slightly and was amazed to see that I had solved it. I honestly couldn't believe it!! Could I be the first to find it in over FOUR YEARS?

Today I got my answer; YES!!! YES YES AND YES!!! I couldn't believe where the final was. I had been close to here before finding another cache. The final is brilliant and from top to bottom this earns a favorite point. I'm so glad I was able to solve and find this. Thanks for the trip. ;)

Thanks for the hide Ceolmhor. I appreciate you keeping this cache active for everyone to enjoy.

I've made some changes to the text of the cache description and to the hints. I found that solvers need a little more help, and that two things in my existing description and hints were a bit confusing. I think it's now easier to work out the main pieces, what they're for, and the kind of machine that's involved in solving the puzzle. Time will tell if I'm right. I'm happy, BTW, to work with folks all the way through a solution, if I see that they're making a real effort, so don't hesitate to ask for help if you've really tried to solve this and are stuck.

It was a bit of an ordeal getting to the right solution - I had mostly the right ideas but needed a nudge to recognize how to start right to end right. Appreciate the help from the CO. Thought I spotted a shortcut early on, and now pretty sure I was right, but at that point I did not fully understand the right solution method. No precedent for how to do this, really, so it was a challenge. Made the find and signed the log today, nice hide. TFTC

Welllllllllllll, what to say about this one---we had a lot of help---nope a TON of help and went to find the log and sign it today and even that was a challenge. Weeds pretty tall but we found it and loved the hide AFTER we made the find. ha

Found 1037. Worked on this one off and on for over 3 years and finally got a small hint that put me on the right track but still required a lot more work. I think that the "machine" for me was my brain that did the work of "the machine" that would have probably done it faster. I'm going back over my notes to see if that is the case. (0) TFTC/SL

Well, I see that yet another cacher has somehow solved this puzzle without actually figuring out what kind of puzzle it's intended to be. I'm amazed at the ability shown by these clever puzzle-solvers, but I never intended the first step of the solution process to be that difficult. So I've made one more change to the cache description that I'm pretty sure will fix this difficulty. The first line of the instructions now says: "Here's the approach that's most likely to succeed: 1. Figure out what kind of computational machine this puzzle involves." Good luck to all. :)
