INTERCEPTED TRANSMISSION…. June 11, 1994 – Investigation of Cessna 310 named Alex G. Last contact over Aurora Reservoir in Colorado. Co-Pilot carrying package. Package retrieval unlikely as sonar identifies debris field at 30 feet with water temperatures between 55 and 65 degrees. Visibility at the site has been reported between 0 and 10 feet. Due to extreme conditions, access to the crash site is only feasible between May and October. Agents assigned to investigate should be competent with SCUBA gear, comfortable in cold temperatures, limited visibility, and overhead environments. …END TRANSMISSION

This cache has been on my radar (or should I say sonar) for years now, but it was so easy to focus elsewhere that I never seriously pursued it. When I happened to pull up the cache page in September and noticed the cache owner's note about the pumpkin carving event, I just couldn't say no. After meeting folks from the dive club at their September meeting, taking a refresher course, and having my gear serviced, I was ready to go – or was I? The weather prediction for dive day was unusually warm, but for a good reason – and high winds at the dive sight made for an interesting experience. Lots of waves/chop and good current to swim against to get out to the buoy gave me my money's worth! Descended to the plane and with the CO's help was able to locate the special package and sign the log. What a great experience! Big, big, thank you to the CO for his encouragement to join them on their day, and especially for his help and watchful eye over me! This is such a unique cache for the area, and deserves multiple fav points, but I can only give one... :-( Thanks to all for such a great day!!

Nice!

Checked on the cache and all is still good. This weekend had the worst visibility I have seen at Aurora. Could not even see the airplane from the bottom of the chain, but it was there. If any certified divers have wanted to try for this cache, our dive club will be doing an underwater pumpkin carving contest at Aurora on October 27, 2018 just before the reservoir ends diving for the winter. Message me if you want details.

Water is way murky this weekend

Water was a little murky but still able to get to the cache. Very cold down there too. Took a while to warm up and a warm car. I think I signed it. At least I tried but without reading glasses it was very hard to tell if the pencil wrote. At blue and white bouy is where the airplane is below.

Found this one a while back during my first dive on the plane. Dropped down onto a pretty big school of fish that just kind of hung around while we explored. Great spot, TFTC!
