NGS Benchmark Series.
This is a series to show geocachers more of our nation's benchmarks. Though they can be found in every county in the continental U.S. benchmarks are are just another little known survey tool to the public. But when you look on the NGS site or Geocaching.com you can see every detail about them. There is also description for each that tells exactly where they are. These descriptions interest me the most, at times you have to wonder where in the world did the railroad track go that was 50 feet from a certain benchmark years ago. I hope that this series gives a historical insight to geocachers of what our country looked like in the years past.

This cache is hidden only a few feet from the benchmark. It was covered by some dirt when I found it, but it should be good to go now. DO NOT park next to the cache. This is illegal, as there are signs posted that say no parking. There are plenty of safe and legal spots to the South. Have fun and good luck!

In the area with lasouthpaw to sign as many Challenge caches, visit as many Virtuals, and get as many rays as we can for the 360 Degrees of Colorado Challenge. We had beautiful weather today as we cached our way back north. We had started this series in the winter... so much easier today!!! TFTC!

Grabbed this one as we were getting back on the road. It was in our way, so why not???

After a couple days of caching around Colorado Springs with peace love pi, we started heading back north. We wanted to both beat traffic and get some caching done. We remembered how much we enjoyed this power trail and decided to come this way to complete it. We had a great day for caching - mild temps, slight breeze, sunny but not hot. We replaced logs and containers as needed and we were pretty efficient moving along the trail. Sorry for the cut and paste logs, but we were cruisin! Thank you for this most awesome set of caches. It was a little bit of challenge to work my way over to this one. I was driving down from Denver to the Springs. In the end, I found both the cache and benchmark. Thanks for hiding

This was a great string of caches to come and get one a wonderful day. I had not too many problems out here on this road and only got stopped twice by people who happen to live on the road to ask what I was doing. Saw one snake and a Deer while I was out here. I did replace one container along the way. I had to stop every now and then to really take in the area, What a great view from a few parts of some lovely nature. Thanks so much got getting me out on this road today. I am glad I saved this road for such a day.
