The cache in an Aurora park. It’s an easy hike, but if you stray, it could be a long one.
This is a multi-cache placed for Bicycle Aurora with the assistance of City of Aurora park rangers. The cache is placed in a wonderful park with wetlands and a lot of wildlife. There are a lot of trails to try out and things to see. Bring binoculars to watch birds and wildlife. Bring a camera for those moments you're nose to nose with the animals. The park staff requests that you stay on the trail as much as possible and the cache is just a bit off trail. Please do not cross fenced off preserve areas. Be careful to stay on the trail.

Go to the above coordinates. This is the park visitor center. Inside is a nature wall with a map. You will use the title plaque above (and right) of the map to get your next coordinates. Do not count spaces or punctuation. Use only the alphabet letters for your calculations. Use the letters in the order they appear in. Convert each letter to its numerical value (a=1, b=2, …, z=26). Perform the mathematical operation indicated on the value that you get. These will be your coordinates to go to.

(-20)(*1)º (/3)(+1).(-12)(/9)(+3)’ N
(-4)(-1)(/3)º (-11)(/2).(+2)(-10)(*6)’ W

Once done you will have the answer. These coordinates are in the park. If you get results outside of the park boundaries, you have not solved the puzzle correctly. This is a single step multi-cache. Go to this location to explore the cache.

Please note that the visitor center is open the following hours:
Monday -- closed
Tuesday -- closed
Wednesday -- 12:00 to 16:30
Thursday -- 12:00 to 16:30
Friday -- 12:00 to 16:30
Saturday -- 9 AM to 16:30 PM
Sunday -- 9 AM to 16:30 PM
You will not be able to access the key text outside of these hours.

The Park is open daily during daylight hours. There are no lights, so you may want to confine your activities to daylight hours. Trails in the park are commonly frequented by horse riders. The park is also home to a lot of varied wildlife, including foxes, coyotes and raccoons. Feel free to bring your dog for a walk, but please follow the posted leash rules and do not take your dog (or yourself) into areas that are protected.

Budget an hour to get the whole thing done. Budget two or more if you're easily distracted by shiny things.

Please note that if you completed this cache before early 2010, the Army Corps of Engineers reclaimed the spot the cache used previously and it had to be moved to a “non-flood location”. Please also note that the visitor center has undergone some renovation and the original animal exhibit signs have been removed. The coordinates are keyed to a new permanent sign.

This cache is placed in an Aurora Parks and Open Space property with the approval of the Aurora Parks and Open Space rangers.

Greetings from California! Approve I had to work the cipher twice, since I glommed on to the wrong plaque the first time! Shock Made the correction, (I sat at that small kids' table to work the puzzle!) then made the find without any problem. This was my first of four finds in Star K Ranch, it took just an hour walking the trails (not counting solving the cipher). Funny, this cache is within 100 meters of one of the traditionals, that's not allowed any more but I guess it was OK in 2004! BigSmile Thanks for the multi! CoolCoolCool #1,254

Lazy Sunday and day 500 of the streak. Went up to Star K Ranch to get the multi and a few of the traditionals. Beautiful day for walking around. Proved that I can still do basic math. Easy find. TFTC!

Nice multi. No problem gathering the information for the final coordinates then out into the cold to find the cache. At the GZ, it took me a minute to spot the cammo. Thanks for the fun.

I've come to think of this as a hidden gem in Denver. I was volunteering at a food pantry not TOO far away and thought I'd come over here between volunteering and work to get the magic words. I really liked the visitor center, so I took an extra few minutes to look around. Too bad the hours are a little short, this is a nice center. Work the numbers while on a conference call this afternoon and head over after work. I was here a couple months ago to pick up the regular size caches and was surprised at how different everything looks now. I tried not to freak myself out about snakes, but I freaked a little anyway. Luckily there was a geo trail out to GZ or I probably would have waited until fall. I constantly think to myself, how can I be so afraid of nature and like caching so much??? Due to the constant vigilance I'm guessing it took me 2-3 times longer to find the cache than it should have. But I got the log signed and headed to the next one. (I'm a glutton for punishment...) Thanks for the multi! Find #2411.

2nd cache found on the walk today. Grace and I attempted this once before a few months ago but it was too far for her. Today it was an easy walk. Tftc!

Had some time to burn this morning, so I came over to check out this park. What a nice visitor center! It took me a few minutes to figure out what I was supposed to do to get the final coordinates, but after it clicked, I took the short walk and soon had the container in hand. There was a forgotten beanie baby type toy sort of near GZ, which threw me off for a few minutes, but after I trusted the coordinates, the container revealed itself. Thanks for this multi!

After doing some cleanup in the park with the CITO event, a group of us (Killian33, T_Dawg303, nick hart, irid3sc3nt and EasternGirls) did our homework and proceeded to find this fun, older cache.

Coords were great and made the quick grab at ground zero. Thanks for keeping this older cache around for us new(er) cachers to enjoy so many years later.

Found GCJR44 - Wheels-1 (A Walk on the Wild Side), on October 1, 2017 using Cachly for iOS.

Some may call me seriously mentally ill. Some may state that I am in a state of mind that prevents social interaction. Some may say I am in a state of mind that prevents normal perception and or behavior. I prefer to say that I tend to do the same thing over and over again, but I expect different results. That being said, I believe we only live one life and I am trying to make the best of it. I thank you, Stormy_Marmot for placing a fun geocache to fuel my "insanity" or addiction as I call it. I appreciate you bringing me here so that I can sign my alias on a piece of paper that you have hidden.

I look forward to finding more of your geocaches. I also look forward to potentially finding geocaches with you one day and sharing stories of our insanity... I mean hobby or addiction? Cheers!
