A short climb to this one. Cache is 3x5x10 camo Rubbermaid container with usual trade items. May not be accessible in winter. This is the 8th in the Cochetopa series. As the name implies this cache is located near Cochetopa Creek, which in this area, is designated as "Wild Trout Waters" This means anyone can fish this stream, that has never been stocked. The trout in Cochetopa Creek are raised entirely within the natural stream environment. Which as the sign said provides the angler with the challenge of catching wild trout!! There are ladder steps over the fence in numerous places, and this is a VERY popular place in the summer!! So bring your fly rod and stay awhile!! The rocked section near the cache location was the original stage road from Lake City to Saguache, and later used for vehicle traffic. Alfred Packer (who ate his companions one winter, near Lake City) had to use this road to return to the Indian Angency and on to the jail in Saguache This was home to the Ute's for many years. This area of Colorado I think is one of the most unique in it's history, geography, beauty, wildlife and fish, so enjoy God's creation while you are in this area!! With the Cochetopa series I wanted you to see a part of what I love about this area the old timers called the "Cochetope"

06/17/2019 By Goonch Came by again this year to see how things are doing. Left a TB that wants to be in lonely caches. Cache is in good shape.
06/18/2018 By Goonch Came by with Ronic444 to make this find on our annual trip. Cache is in great shape and dry, dipped some bugs and took one to move along.
10/19/2017 By Goonch It has been a little over 4 years, so I wasn't very optimistic, but there she was! The cache is in good shape and dry. This is beautiful country! TFTC. SL. Dropped a TB.
