A stop along the Ouray Perimeter Trail (OPT)
Hiking the Ouray Perimeter Trail is a great way to spend a few
hours exploring the area around this scenic mountain town. Along
the way you may be visiting some of your favorite nearby landmarks,
while undoubtedly discovering new ones.
This series of caches is our way of trying to entice more people to
step out on the trail and enjoy the tour! Caches are all small so
BYOP to sign the log.
The entire loop is about 4.5 miles... do the whole route or any
segment. We started at the Baby Bathtubs trailhead off the
Amphitheater campground road and went clockwise around town... but
you may begin at any of several points and proceed in either
direction.... so I will leave the series unnumbered.
Put on your hiking boots, take some water, a snack or lunch, hit
the trail, and ... enjoy the amazing views!
All caches are located near the trail and should not require
extensive cross country travel. Stay safe. Children should be
closely supervised.
** This cache is further from the trail than most... across a rocky
section of land to a panoramic view, below the summit.
