Monkey Foot

No need to remove anything.  Look with your eyes and you will find this cache.

You might have already looked for or found my older brother, Lying Monkey Fish (GC89EXA).  Sorry if you’ve met him. He tells a lot of stories. Here is the truth about that cache:

  1. The coordinates were verified using Google satellite maps.
  2. Black Widow spiders have an unusually potent venom containing the neurotoxin latrotoxin. Female widow spiders have unusually large venom glands and their bite can be particularly harmful to large vertebrates, including humans. Only the bites of the females are dangerous to humans. Despite their notoriety, Latrodectus bites rarely cause death or produce serious complications.  No deaths have been reported to the AAPCC since 1983.
  3. Roughly 65 percent of Colorado is classified as good mountain lion habitat.
  4. If you step on a nail and you haven't had a tetanus shot in the past five years and the wound is deep or dirty, your doctor may recommend a booster. The injured person should have the booster shot within 48 hours of the injury.
  5. Poison ivy is easily identified by a larger leaf at the end, and two smaller leaves shooting off the sides. The leaves can be notched or smooth on the edges, and they have pointed tips. The plant is reddish in the spring, green in summer, and yellow/orange in the fall.  Leaves of 3 as they say…
  6. I once acquired 21 ticks in one day while geocaching in Oklahoma City.  Eww. Scabies is a skin condition caused by scabies mites — tiny, insect-like parasites that infect the top layer of your skin.Scabies causes rashes, irritation, and a ton of itching. It's easily spread to other people during skin-to-skin touching.  There are approximately 80 species of fleas in Colorado, among the greatest number found in any state. However, flea problems around the home and on pets are not as common as in other parts of the United States.Colorado's dry climate is unfavorable for flea development, particularly the immature stage.
  7. Project Rulison was really in Colorado, but not here.  Check out N39° 24.317' W107° 56.912', or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Rulison for more info.
  8. Sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) is a condition in which untreated sewage is discharged from a sanitary sewer into the environment prior to reaching sewage treatment facilities. When caused by rainfall it is also known as wet weather overflow.
  9. Potential diseases involving viruses, bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms transmitted through an accidental needle stick are Blastomycosis, Brucellosis, Cryptococcosis, Diphtheria, Cutaneous gonorrhea, Herpes, Malaria, Mycobacteriosis, Mycoplasma caviae, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Sporotrichosis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Syphilis, Toxoplasmosis, and Tuberculosis.
  10. The movie Poltergeist was released on June 4, 1982, and insinuates that the haunting was because the home was built over a cemetery.
  11. November, 2010 twin Australian sisters killed themselves in a suicide pact in Aurora, Colorado, but not at this site.
  12. I ain’t afraid of no ghost.  Ghostbusters was a movie hit in 1984 and again in the 2016 remake.
  13. Most geocache containers are made of plastic or aluminum.
  14. The log is made on printing paper.
  15. Prairie dog colonies are in fact sometimes wiped out by the plague.  Rattlesnakes are often associated with prairie dog habitats.
  16. June, 2016, a security officer was murdered 2.666 miles from this site!
  17. Many scientists now agree that eating your boogers is good for you.
  18. National Geographic lists swindler Charles Ponzi as the world’s 4th most notorious liar, only to be outdone by Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton, and the 1919 White Sox.
  19. The container is actually a little gross looking.
  20. I believe the coords are pretty spot on.  The cache is 1 foot off the ground, under a small rock on a bigger rock.
  21. The puzzle can only be solved by looking at the hint… or a miraculous guess.

I had retreated to the car in defeat. I decided to check and see if there was any information in the logs that might help. Somebody mentioned the hint. Hint?! Let me look at that. Voila! I swear I checked that spot. But I returned to the hunt with more vigor and a successful find! Thanks for the search, hint and the cache! TFTC!

We are certainly glad we met Honest Monkey Foot - I wonder how we will like his brother. However, we must say that while Honest Monkey Foot may be honest, he is also very sneaky. We must have looked at the cache 5 times before we realized it was the cache ! Since honesty is the best policy according to Honest Monkey Foot, we have a small confession to make. When removing the log, it tore in half. Don't worry - no need to jump out of bed and rush over like the conscientious cache owner you are - its all fixed. Now we are off to meet Lying Monkey Fish.

This was close to my house so made the trek over and found it without getting towed because I wasn't allowed to park in that lot (but I didn't go to the medical building!). TFTC!
