If you don't have 4-wheel drive the only way you will get to this site is by helicopter or by foot !
That's right, this is a true 4-wheel drive experience!

I was visiting Dumont where my older daughter and her husband live and a camping trip to Bill Moore lake was offered.

Little did I know the extent of the 4-wheeling we would do. I used to own a Wrangler that would have been perfect for this ! Expect a full workout with at least three sections that offer alternate routes for the more timid driver or passengers, or for a vehicle that isn't equipped well enough.

Once you get to the general area (about a 1 to 1.5 hour drive on the Jeep road) I suggest going all the way to the end...you'll see the cabin remains. Park there and walk back to the cache site...it's only about .20 miles.

You should have a nice view once you are there. The actual terrain around the cache is about a level 2. The cache difficulty is probably a 3 or so because of multiple hiding spots.

My kids and their friends looked for it and 4 of 5 found it in about 10 minutes.

From what I understand, in a normal snow year, this cache may only be available in July and August.

Locals will know about this most likely.

I have been wanting to get up here for a long time. When I decided to go to the GCCO campout this year this was a perfect way to have some fun on the way. Happily Kerewin0430 was able to got along and share the adventure. I never get tired of places like this. TFTC

WingsAndTales invited me to do some caching on the way to the campout, so I happily took the day off, not fully knowing just how great this day was going to end up being! With nerves of steel, she got us most of the way to this one...all I had to do was enjoy the beautiful scenery and hike a little...rough life! :-) The road next to the cache (on the geocaching app, at least) doesn't appear to exist anymore, but the cache is still in great shape (surprisingly, as the lid was off). Thank you for placing this one!

Found it with a large group after the Mountain Chillin' and 4x4 Caching Adventure event. We really enjoyed the entire day! A big thank you to Mountain Roamer and jpit for the highly skilled rides on the difficult Red Elephant Hill trail!! TFTC!!

We took the walk from the lake to find this cache-we will probably never be up here again & wouldn't be if not for the Chillin' event but it sure is a beautiful place. Your cache photos aren't showing up on my computer-don't know how they look for others.
