I figured it was quite the perfect time to find this Lonely Cache.

I followed CR35 from the West until I couldn't/wouldn't drive in what is now the washed out remnants of a dirt road. I parked at 38.340920, -105.719863 and started up the hill. Unfortunately, I forgot to start my tracker until I was already 1.2miles up there, so the screenshot isn't completely accurate. The elevation is right (2,877ft), but the distance was a total of about 6.9 miles. It was about 5 hours for me, with about 3.25hours of actual movement. (I have to stop and catch my breath a lot on the up, but I can move rather quickly on the down.)

Anyway, after crossing the open field, I came to the burn area. I then followed the road, which was also mostly washed out and had small growth, all the way to the cache location. Surprisingly, the one tree in the area that is not charred is the one tree holding the container.

I circled it and saw the container without much searching. It's not the same color it started. Getting in there and making the grab was not without a few pokes. I stamped and dated the log. Then I sat for a few minutes to refill the camelback with the water bottles, had a quick snack and headed back down the same way I came up.

It was a great hike. Although my mind was elsewhere, I did enjoy the solitude and finding a cache after sitting for 4 years and 19 days.

TFTC!

I had some time today as it was my daughter, Little E's birthday and she wanted to go on a horseback ride with Mom, Betty Bomber. I had the morning open and decided to go on a nice hike to grab this one. It was a beautiful morning and I was lucky to see a nice herd of elk as soon as I started hiking through the burned area. There were lots of wildflowers in bloom and the hummingbirds were out in full force. Thanks much for the hide! BP
