He's Going The Distance

Rocky
A series of caches in tribute to The Italian Stallion Himself. A slightly larger than normal match container placed along of Trail 716 of Mt Herman (Trail Head parking about 5 miles up Mt Herman Road). Requires a long hike along beautiful trails and some steep climbs. This trail meets up with many along the way and there are many ways to access this location. There are more than 20 other caches along the way so plan for at least a 4-5 hour hike, Great for families of all ages and there are not ant TOO difficult paths to take. The Difficulty rating in the winter months will be much higher due to ice and snow, so be careful. Each Cache in this series will get slightly more difficult in terrain as we head up the mountain.

To best access this cache, follow the trail up to Raspberry mountain and continue on down the trail until you reach a fork marked by pink ribbon on a young aspen tree. The junction to access the ridge line is at N 39° 05.696 W 104° 55.618

Going straight up the trail to the summit of Mt Herman will dead end on the northern most cliff At Busters Cache (GC13B44) [I was a little more adventurous and went straight down into the valley] so remember to head west to Hey Ferb! I know what we're gonna do today! (GC287B7)to set you in the right direction.

I came at this one opposite the way people normally come to find this cache. I started today’s short hike up from the north, from the direction of Limbaugh Canyon. The hike was significantly more pleasant than I thought it would be. Once past GCYATX 66% Inspiration, 100% Perspiration, the elevation gain leveled off significantly. Not only that, I was able to make the find on this one with no drama. Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache for everyone to find, TFTC.

11:07 AM We are here from Dallas for our typical August vacation in Divide in order to skip the Texas heat for a couple of weeks.

Today I am hiking/caching around Mt Herman with WingsAndTails.

She had found this one last September, but allowed me to make the grab.

The lid is cracked. The existing log was soaked. We left a new log and baggie courtesy of W&T.

I signed the log. Thanks, Dusty47, for the cache.

As many times as I've been in this area since 2011, I don't understand why I've never gone after this one. Well I took care of that today. The cache had about 1/2" of water in it due to a crack in the lid. Someone put duct tape over it, but it had already dissolved. I had some surgical tape, so tried to seal it with that. The log was a little damp but still ok to write on. Love this trail. Thanks for the hide.

it was a beautiful morning for a hike, so we decided to go after 3 caches up in the hills west of Palmer Lake. All containers and logs were in great shape. Thanks to the COs for placing and maintaining these caches.
