GCWH04 Traditional Cache The End of the Road
Type: Traditional | Size: Regular Regular | Difficulty: 1.5 out of 5 | Terrain: 2.5 out of 5
By: Bugsyboat @ | Hide Date: 06/10/2006 | Status: Available
Country: United States | State: Colorado
Coordinates: N37° 03.532 W106° 32.502 | Last updated: 08/30/2019 | Fav points: 1

The container is a screw-top Tupperware type thing. I didn't put anything in it except for a log book and a couple pencils. Feel free to leave items if you want.
About a half mile hike from the end of the road down the old road bed. Generally flat hiking but crosses a couple streams that could potentially be flowing in spring or after a heavy rain. The cache is hidden in the middle of a landslide that came down years ago. The coordinates should be accurate to within 2 feet.
Enjoy the views, there should be at least one waterfall visible in the distance for most of the year.

I am out from Aurora, Colorado. I am loving the geocaching out here in Southern, CO. I just road the train in Chama, NM. I am heading back home. I hope I get past all the forest fires. Thank you for the hide.

Found 6-5-18 TFTC! Brought family to camp at the trailhead. I've been hunting here for 20yrs, and wanted to share a little bit with the family. Traded some swag.

2nd of 3 caches on the day.
Had drove up to the area the afternoon before but didn't have time to make the hike so can back bright and early today to take the hike and grab the cache. Very cool landslide and glad I wasn't here when it happened.
Thanks for the cache.

Nice hike in a mist. Beautiful valley and intriguing drive. We saw bear tracks on the trail, and then we later saw a black bear run across the road. Maybe it was our name name sake. Wink Glad we were in our Jeep at the time. Good SWAG. TFTC.

#7486 At least the road in was decent. Gorgeous scenery. SL. Finally figured out there must have been a flood some time.

Good cache. Hiked into this one with new geocacher BUGEYEDRIVER. Left several items including a couple of pathtags and a geocoin. Took a small flashlight.

Found on the way to Chelley's Peak with rockhoundew and gravitygroup. The "Three Amigos" made it up and back safely although a little worse for wear and tear on our 75 year old bodies after coming back down from Chelly's Peak on this landslide/rockslide. Take the easier route. This is a perfect geocache. TN LN SL TFTC

What a great location for this cache, grabbed this before heading up to Chelly's Peak with OkCaching and Sammy. Thanks for the cache.

Great area, nice hike. Who knew? It was a very fun cache to find. Thanks for bringing us here. Some elk in the area, we could smell them, but didn't see any. Perhaps next time.
T- TB, L-Crown Royal Swag Bag and Googlie eyes to watch for muggles. Fellow cachers need to take time to check out the waterfall to the north. TFTC SL

Coords right on the money, but the streams were raging today and made for some interesting crossings. We really enjoyed our time in this valley. It's a beautiful spot!
