Significant hike  Dangerous Animals  Cliff / falling rocks

A beautiful but almost never visitted spot off of Barr trail with a great view and a nice shelter.

This is a great place to stop off on your way up or down Pikes Peak on the Barr trail.  Shiva’s Shelter is near a really nice stone shelter on a nice overlook just above the A-frame  (about 2,000 feet below the summit of Pikes Peak). This cache is named after Shiva the newest member of the Stiller Geocaching team. She loves places like the stone shelter you will see just to the south of the cache.   This shelter can provide a great place to get out of the high winds and still avoid the crowds.

This cache is hidden off the ground and should be findable in the winter in normal snow conditions.

Broken containers and full logs may be disposed of at will.

I'm pleased to report that the cache is in really good condition given the almost 4 years it has gone unfound. What a spot too, great scenery in every direction. I took a compass bearing from the A-frame cache, and it wasn't an easy way to go, and it was much easier coming back from the cache in an arc over easier terrain that you could pick out once you were there. There were some rust marks on the logbook from the container, but the co-ordinates were excellent and everything dry. I sat and chanted Om Namah Shivayah for several minutes, and this becomes my second favourite Shiva cache after Arunachala in South India. I drove to the top of Pikes Peak and trekked down the Barr's trail to get here. A big thanks for setting the cache, and hopefully the next find will not be in 2022. This one gets a FP as soon as I have one

Not exactly just off the Barr Trail, but far enough to enjoy a snack and to hydrate on the way down the peak. Mark your trail for a return to the Barr Trail!!

As ernie66 said, we've been talking about doing this cache since it was placed a couple of years ago. As we'd just done a 14er the day before, my legs were not happy about this decision. It's amazing how much distance those switchbacks can add. But what a great spot for a cache! Thanks for bringing us out there...well worth the hike. Deserves a favorite point.
