The 80's hair band series is dedicated to the only music that I like to call music. I'm talking about Rock. The 80's hair bands were known for three things: Writing and playing their own music, their long, stringy, sometimes permed hair, and sticking it to The Man. Many of these bands have been performing together for over 30 years.
There are many reasons that Bon Jovi gets the #1 spot in this series. First off, they are my favorite band of all time. Hands Down. Secondly, after thirty years of making awesome music they are still at it. They released a brand new album in 2012. Jon Bon Jovi also owns a series of restaurants called Soul Kitchen. People pay only what they can afford, or they can volunteer to work for their meals.
The New Jersey band formed in 1983. Their first hit, Runaway, put them on the map. but it was their third album, Slippery When Wet that made them a household name.
The band is most noted for members Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan and Tico Torres.
The band kept right on rolling out hit songs such as It's My Life, Living on a Prayer, You Give Love a Bad Name, Have a Nice Day and Blood on Blood clear into the 90s.
In 2012 the band released a brand new album, and a new tour: Because We Can.
On March 14, 2013, Bon Jovi appeared on the results show of American Idol and played one song, Because We Can, from their new album What About Now.
From 2 April 2013 forward, Richie Sambora departed the band's ongoing tour for unspecified "personal reasons"; Phil X replaced him, for the remainder of the tour, amidst rumours that Sambora had been fired. Both Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi later denied the claim. Tico Torres was also sidelined briefly due to emergency gallbladder surgery; he was replaced by Rich Scannella from Bon Jovi's solo band, the Kings of Suburbia, from 20 September to 6 October.
